At Flix, we offer a dynamic work environment with competitive pay, strong growth opportunities, and a tech-driven approach to making travel more accessible, sustainable, and affordable.

FlixBus is rewriting how Australians travel long distance, and we are building the category here from the ground up. We are looking for a visionary storyteller and all-rounder PR and Communications Manager who can craft campaigns that move Australian travel behaviours, grow awareness in a market where most people have never heard of us, and challenge how the country thinks about long-distance travel.

In this role you will lead the storytelling, communications and public affairs functions for FlixBus in Australia. You will amplify local brand awareness, adapt our global stories so they land with an Australian audience, and redefine the category narrative to build our positioning here from scratch. You are also the bridge between this market and our global teams: pitching Australian campaigns back to HQ to win investment and attention and turning global moments into local and regional coverage that moves the needle locally.

Whether it is shifting engaging and liaising with relevant mainstream, niche and local media, collaborating on local campaigns, engaging with the right stakeholders, you will bring a creative and original approach to positioning FlixBus brand to spark conversations everyone talks about.

This is a fast-paced role with real ownership. You will hold the brand reputation, the media relationships and the stakeholder map for the whole market.

About the Role

  • Partner with Marketing, Brand and Social teams to develop and execute integrated PR campaigns that build awareness and strengthen market leadership in Australia.
  • Create compelling local brand narratives, translating global stories into relevant, newsworthy content that resonates with Australian audiences.
  • Drive media relations by building strong networks with journalists, bloggers and influencers, and securing high-impact coverage through proactive storytelling and pitching.
  • Lead public affairs and stakeholder engagement across government, transport, tourism and industry partners, balancing complex priorities and long-term relationships.
  • Act as a brand reputation guardian, managing external communications, online reputation and crisis response with strategic judgement and composure.
  • Produce and distribute PR materials, monitor industry trends, competitor activity and media conversations, and proactively shape messaging opportunities.
  • Organise and promote events, route launches and networking initiatives while representing the company with media, stakeholders and industry audiences.

About You

  • 5–7 years of PR experience, preferably in a fast-paced startup, transportation/ mobility, travel-tech , tourism scale-up or e-commerce environment.
  • Proven expertise in public affairs, stakeholder engagement and crisis communications, with the ability to manage complex, long-term relationships.
  • Strong track record of influencing and managing diverse internal and external stakeholders while balancing multiple priorities.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a talent for crafting compelling stories and identifying emerging trends.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to translate brand awareness and PR initiatives into measurable commercial outcomes.
  • Deep understanding of the Australian media and political landscape, with the confidence to navigate and leverage it effectively.
  • Fearless, proactive communicator who challenges the status quo and drives impactful conversations in the travel industry.

We recognize that everyone carries a unique set of valuable skills and experiences. If you think you could have an impact even though you don't meet 100% of the requirements, we still encourage you to apply. We want to hear from you!

What We Offer

  • Travel perks: 12 free Flix vouchers + 12 discount vouchers for friends & family.
  • Work from (M)Anywhere: Depending on your role, work from another location for up to 60 days per year.
  • Hybrid work model: We are an office-first company, but we offer flexibility to balance work and life.
  • Wellbeing support: Access confidential 1:1 counselling, courses, and stress management for yourself and up to four family members.
  • Learning & Development: Take advantage of language classes, training courses, and expert-led sessions to grow your skills.
