  • Are you ready to join the Banking Department and play a pivotal role in transforming risk management at the Reserve Bank of Australia?

  • We are seeking a financial crime risk professional to join us in a strategic Line 1 role, supporting the department leaders to manage AML, sanctions and fraud risks.

  • This role would best suit an experienced risk manager in a commercial bank and will involve substantial liaison with teams in Banking Department and in other departments in the Bank (e.g. Enterprise Risk and Compliance, Payments Settlements).

About the business/role/team

  • The successful applicant will join the Risk and Compliance team within Banking Department (known as BK). They will report directly to the Manager, Risk and Compliance BK but liaison closely with the senior leadership of Banking on financial crime.

  • The Risk and Compliance team is responsible for supporting BK to manage it's the risks and controls effectively. This includes a focus on compliance risks such as AML, Sanctions and Fraud.

About the role

  • Provide support to the department in their identification, assessment and management of risk and controls with a focus on financial crime such as AML, sanctions and fraud.

  • Ensure business operations and risk management practices align to the frameworks, policies, standards, risk strategy, regulatory obligations, and risk appetite of the RBA.

  • Support the business to develop and implement adequate controls to mitigate material risk exposures with a focus on financial crime. 

  • Provide risk expertise to the business in the area of financial crime including keeping up to date on regulatory developments and their impact on banking operations.

About you

  • Experience in a Line 1 or Line 2 risk and compliance role.

  • Demonstrated risk management expertise in financial crime.

  • Demonstrated experience supporting the learning and development of business stakeholders in practical risk management.

  • Understanding of enterprise-wide risk and compliance management frameworks, policies and standards. 

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in economics, finance, risk, compliance or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
