About the role
As a Roadside Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for the support, monitoring, and maintenance of Windows and Unix operating system platforms that underpin Transurban’s roadside and Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS). The role sits within the Core Services team and focuses on ensuring the availability, performance, security, and recoverability of mission-critical operational systems.
Day-to-day, you will:
- Provide core infrastructure services and manage production systems availability
- Administer, monitor, and maintain Windows Server and Unix/Linux platforms supporting roadside and ITS systems
- Provide 2nd and 3rd level support for production incidents, including fault diagnosis, root cause analysis, and remediation
- Manage system performance, capacity, patching, backups, and lifecycle upgrades in line with operational standards
- Implement and maintain monitoring, alerting, and system management tools to support proactive incident detection
This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferrable skills and experiences, including:
- Hands-on experience supporting critical infrastructure or operational technology environments, ideally within transport, utilities, or industrial systems
- Strong experience with Windows Server platforms. and TCP/IP networking including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group policies
- Experience with Hypervisor Technologies (VMWare vSphere \ Microsoft Hyper-V
- Experience with Monitoring and Alerting solutions (SCOM \ Splunk)
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex systems, work under pressure, and support safety-critical services
