Let’s talk about the team: 
 
Under supervision of and review by the Corporate Controller, the Corporate Accounting Manager contributes to work on material matters for the Resmed Group before they are released to the public, Board of Directors, and/or C-suite executives. This requires in an elevated level of responsibility and diligence to be demonstrated on a regular basis. Due to strict internal and external deadlines on a regular basis (monthly, quarterly and annually) as well as potential activities, such as M&A, long work hours may be required. Due to working with geographically diverse teams and resources, sensitivity to different business cultures and languages is also required. This includes the Corporate Accounting team being co-located in San Diego, Sydney, and Kuala Lumpur. The role also has a direct report, which involves appropriate delegation and oversight over work as well as ensuring ongoing job satisfaction and professional development. Due to the project-based nature of this role and overall business partnering, the role also requires engaging with key business leaders and stakeholders throughout the group. The team is small, and this role will regularly work directly with the VP, Corporate Accounting and VP, Supply Chain Finance & Global Treasury 
 
The Corporate Accounting team promotes a flexible work environment, particularly during off-peak periods such as outside of the quarter and year ends. Due to the strict reporting deadlines, extensive leave (1 week or more) cannot be taken during July and certain weeks in October, January and April. Outside of quarter ends, our preference is for team members to attend the Sydney office in Bella Vista on Wednesdays, however, this is not mandatory. The Corporate Accounting team is predominantly located in the Sydney office with a smaller presence in San Diego and Malaysia. As such, earlier morning calls with the US may be required. 
 
Let’s talk about the role: 
 
Team management 

  • Fostering the ongoing professional development of direct report, which includes seeking ongoing management and people leadership training development. 
  • Establishing open communication with direct report in relation to workload, job satisfaction and development opportunities through regular check ins. 
  • Acting as local leader for the Corporate Accounting team by seeking out opportunities to collaborate with other teams, internal or external training opportunities and supporting the positive team environment. 
     
     
     

Financial reporting 

  • Lead the timely completion of the consolidation of ResMed’s group financial results. This requires extensive oversight of and communication with up to twenty regional finance teams. 
  • Taking ownership of the Corporate Accounting team’s close process to ensure documentation is complete and in accordance with SOX standards including the timely review of workpapers prepared by direct report. 
  • Contribute to the preparation of global audit committee reports and drafting the financial statements for the Group, including quarterly and annual SEC and ASX filing requirements. This includes identifying anomalies in the results and researching reasons for these such as data analysis or consultation with regional finance teams. 
  • Designing, deploying, and refining accounting and reporting processes. 
  • Oversee the global lease accounting process including administration of the lease administration system and liaising with regional accounting teams to ensure timely reporting of changes or new lease agreements. This also includes seeking out ongoing process improvement and optimisation. 
  • Leading the overall process to ensure SOX compliance for the Corporate Accounting team. 
  • Function as key stakeholder in major system implementation and changes such as ERP reimplementation and other reporting tools. 
  • Identify and deploy technology solutions to promote more efficient and automated financial reporting. 
  • Manages audit work with internal and external auditors to ensure completion of quarterly and annual audit review and preparation of Financial Statements. 
     

Analysis of financial results and technical accounting positions 

  • Involvement in analyzing the application of US GAAP accounting standards to ResMed and as required, assist with preparing and delivering training to regional finance and non-finance teams. This includes participation and/or leading global implementation projects for new standards in collaboration with other technical accounting specialists in the Corporate Accounting team. 
  • Provide analysis and interpretation of financial trends requiring management's attention. 
     

Ad hoc projects 

  • Involvement in ad hoc projects such as process improvement and automation, data analysis, assistance to regional finance teams and non-finance teams 
  • Ongoing commitment to identifying process improvement is critical in this role. 
  • Providing support and leadership to finance teams of newly acquired entities. 
     
     

Position challenges 

  • Working with a large number of geographically diverse teams and resources requiring sensitivity to different business cultures and languages 
  • Compiling and reviewing information from different sources including numerous systems and countries while still ensuring the information is consistent, reliable and accurate. 
  • Ability to regularly accommodate unplanned and unexpected requests from the business which often require soon to immediate action or response. 
  • The increasing size and complexity of the global ResMed business can result in resourcing constraints that must be managed through astute work prioritization. 
     

Let’s talk about you: 

  • Education & Credentials: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related discipline and a Chartered Accountant. 
  • Experience: 5–7 years in accounting, preferably in a mix of Big 4 and listed companies. 
  • Financial Reporting: Proficient in preparing/reviewing financial statements, audit committee materials, and handling complex accounting topics (e.g., consolidations, revenue recognition, leases, stock compensation). 
  • Audit & Compliance: Experience managing internal/external audits, addressing findings, and ensuring control effectiveness. 
  • Team Leadership: Skilled in mentoring and guiding direct reports in a high performance environment. 
  • Process Improvement: Skilled at implementing process improvements, adapting to new accounting technologies, and managing organizational changes. 
  • Analytical Skills: Strong in financial analysis, variance tracking, and identifying trends. 
  • Project Management: Ability to manage multiple reporting tasks, meet deadlines, and coordinate cross-departmentally. 
  • Relationships: Ability to build relationships across departments and with external auditors, clients, and regulators. 
  • Communication: Clear, effective communication of financial data to varied audiences, both written and oral. 
  • Technical Skills: Advanced Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, macros) and familiarity with ERPs. 
  • Problem-Solving: Skilled at identifying and resolving data/reporting issues. 
  • Professionalism: Integrity, attention to detail, and an ethical approach to compliance and accurate reporting. 

Qualifications/experiences that are preferred for the position 

  • Experience with technical accounting under US GAAP 
  • Experience using ERP system such as Oracle and the Oracle EPM suite. Experience using a budgeting and forecasting system. 
  • Experience with reporting tools like Workiva 
  • Adoption of automation, data analytics, and AI-enabled tools  

Software used: 

  • Oracle, Oracle EPM, Cognos, Atoti, GL Wand, CoStar, Tableau, Workiva 
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint 
  • AI tools such as Chat GPT or Copilot.
