Job DescriptionJoin TAL Australia as a Corporate Counsel, where you will support our Group Life and Retirement business across a range of commercial and regulatory legal issues.
You will join a team of experienced lawyers who are committed to helping shape the laws and regulations in the life insurance industry by participating in industry working groups and providing submissions to Government, Treasury, and regulators on legal and regulatory change.
In this role you will:
- Advise on life insurance products and policy documents, and agreements required for TAL’s business including with our partners and third-party suppliers
- Review disclosure material and marketing
- Advise on legal matters relevant to our business, including the Corporations Act, Insurance Contracts Act, Life Insurance Act, Superannuation laws and other legislation relevant to a financial services business (including privacy law)
- Pro-actively identify regulatory or legislative developments relating to the TAL business
- Advise on and assist with legal advice on and communication to relevant stakeholders (including regulators) on breach reporting and remediation
- Support the needs of the broader Legal team
- Admitted as a solicitor in Australia
- Minimum 3 years legal experience in financial services
- Experience in life investments products, group insurance, retirement income or negotiating commercial contracts highly regarded
- Excellent technical knowledge of financial services laws including Chapter 7 of the Corporations Act, Life Insurance Act, Insurance Contracts Act and the Supervision Industry (Supervision) Act
- Strong communications skills
