Job Description

This role reports to the Head of Tax and is part of the Financial Control Group headed by the General Manager, Financial Control. Key stakeholders include the Head of Tax, GM Financial Control, management across TAL, various Business Units, and our Tax Advisors. You will also work closely with the other members of the Tax team, the accounting team, financial systems team, and other key working relationships include our Product, Technology, and Project teams. 

As the Corporate Tax Manager, you will ensure TAL meets all its tax compliance obligations and has robust systems, processes, and controls in place. You will act as an adviser and partner to Business Units, providing accurate and complete tax advice on a range of topics in support of commercial decisions. Your contributions will help us remain financially secure, enabling the company to keep its promises to customers and support major projects including acquisitions, divestments, investment management decisions, product development, and new distribution channels and partnerships.

In this role you will:     

  • Manage TAL’s corporate taxes, ensuring compliance with all income and indirect tax laws.

  • Advise on income tax, withholding tax, international tax matters, and the implications of new tax laws. 

  • Manage tax risk across the Group and foster strong internal relationships regarding tax. 

  • Support other tax functions and assist Senior Tax Analysts in preparing compliance deliverables. 

This role is critical as it enhances our financial security by ensuring robust tax compliance and providing strategic tax advice

Qualifications

  • Knowledge and practical experience in applying Australia’s Corporate & Indirect Tax laws for a financial services business. 

  • Understanding of ATO requirements and expectations. 

  • Strong desire to work with management on commercial issues and provide compliant solutions. 

  • Experience in providing clear, confident, supported tax advice to stakeholders. 

  • Skill in translating tax law requirements into practical systems and processes. 

  • Ability and desire to learn new areas of tax law, commercial arrangements, and process development. 

  • Qualifications in Tax or Tax law
