Taboola is seeking a dynamic Country Manager for Japan to lead our growth, strengthen our reputation, and build a strong, people-centric culture in the region. This role calls for an experienced sales leader with a deep understanding of the Japanese ad-tech landscape, capable of designing and executing bold strategies while fostering collaboration across diverse teams.

Taboola Japan has experienced rapid growth on both the advertiser and publisher sides, working with many of Japan’s top agencies, advertisers, publishers, data partners, DSPs, and other key local players.

The Country Manager will play a pivotal role in expanding Taboola’s business and operations in Japan by creating impactful sales strategies, defining a clear road map, building meaningful partnerships, and driving revenue growth. We are looking for a leader who can execute quickly, operate independently, and isn’t afraid to get their hands dirty while fostering collaboration across diverse teams.

The Country Manager of Taboola Japan must possess a strong drive to consistently achieve double-digit annual growth, demonstrating unwavering focus on scaling the business and delivering exceptional results year after year.

To thrive in this role, you'll need:

  • Japan Market Expertise: Proven track record in the Japanese ad-tech industry with 5+ years of experience and exceptional knowledge of the local advertiser, publisher, and revenue ecosystem.
  • Sales & Leadership Experience: 10+ years in key sales positions, including managing large teams or organizations of 30+ people, with strong leadership skills and deep familiarity with the business environment in Japan.
  • Strategic Visionary: Ability to design a comprehensive and sustainable business model tailored to Japan’s unique growth opportunities.
  • Client-Focused Relationship Builder: Skilled in developing long-lasting relationships with top advertisers, publishers, and agencies, leveraging deep local market understanding.
  • Operational Leader: Experience as a Representative Director (or equivalent senior position) overseeing operations, including sales strategies, trade shows, and quality initiatives.
  • Technologically Savvy: Expertise in digital advertising, video, and ad-tech systems, with the ability to explain product benefits within this context.
  • Cultural Awareness: Sensitivity toward cultural differences and fluency in both Japanese and English.
  • Hands-On Approach: A proactive and results-oriented attitude, with the ability to take ownership, drive initiatives to completion, and adapt quickly to challenges. Demonstrates a willingness to be deeply involved in operational and strategic tasks to achieve business objectives.
  • Growth-Oriented Mindset: Strong drive to achieve double-digit year-over-year business growth, with a focus on scaling the organization and driving results rather than solely managing an established team.

How you’ll make an impact:

As a Country Manager, you’ll bring value by:

Being a catalyst for business growth:

  • Develop and execute a tailored strategy to expand Taboola’s advertiser and publisher business in Japan.
  • Generate new business, manage a robust pipeline, and accurately forecast growth.
  • Build strategic partnerships with key stakeholders, aligning them with a coherent product strategy.
  • Close deals with publishers and advertisers, while proactively identifying new market opportunities.
  • Innovate in deal structuring and collaborate with internal teams to support seamless implementation.

Championing our in-market reputation:

  • Represent Taboola at industry events, trade shows, and roadshows to drive brand preference and loyalty.
  • Build relationships with key local partners, including advertisers, publishers, and agencies.
  • Provide insights to the product team to shape product development based on client needs.

Building our culture:

  • Lead and motivate a high-performing sales organization, fostering collaboration and a growth mindset.
  • Cultivate a people-centric culture that emphasizes development and shared success.
  • Manage cross-functional teams effectively, ensuring alignment with Taboola’s global goals and Japan’s market-specific needs.
