We have an exciting opportunity to join our Strategy & Research team in Sydney and are currently looking for a Customer Research Team Lead to join the team. 

As a Customer Research Team Lead, you will lead a team of talented researchers, design and implement research methodologies, and translate data into actionable insights that influence key business strategies. You will stay at the forefront of industry trends, ensuring our research remains cutting-edge while fostering a culture of curiosity and excellence.


Key responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and execute research strategies aligned with VGW’s goals and KPIs.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of researchers to ensure high-quality research output.
  • Design and execute research projects, including defining objectives, methodologies, and data collection processes.
  • Analyze data using statistical techniques and provide evidence-based recommendations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including product, marketing, and operations—to integrate research insights into decision-making.
  • Present research findings to stakeholders to drive key strategic initiatives while building and maintaining relationships across all levels of the business, from the boardroom to operational teams.
  • Ensure compliance with ethical research standards and data privacy regulations.
  • Maintain the correct balance between reactive, proactive research. 
  • Advise the team and broader business on effectively leveraging quantitative and qualitative research for informed decision-making.


What you will bring to the role:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Market Research, Marketing, Statistics, Psychology, Sociology, Economics, Business Administration, Communication, Journalism, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in market research, with a track record of leading projects that drive business strategy.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing and mentoring research teams.
  • Expertise in qualitative and quantitative research methodologies and user-centered design practices.
  • Experience in analyzing complex data sets and converting findings into actionable business insights
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Excellent presentation skills, with experience presenting research to senior leadership.
  • Experience in customer research platforms: eg Qualtrics, Medallia, InMoment, Forsta
  • Expertise in analytical skills using SPSS, DisplayR (or similar tools)
  • Experience in managing and implementing modern ‘Voice of Customer’ programme
