We are currently seeking a Data Analyst to join our team based in Macquarie Park, NSW on a 12-month contract. Reporting to the Financial Planning and Analysis Manager, this role is responsible for analysing and utilising data within the organisation. This includes generating meaningful insights, identifying trends and supporting decision-making processes to drive business performance.

Key responsibilities for this position include (but are not limited to):

  • Collaborate closely with business, finance, and data professionals to understand data reporting requirements and enhance reporting processes by designing automated analytics tailored to business needs.
  • Develop and maintain automated financial dashboards to provide insights into key metrics and trends, ensuring data-driven decision-making is at the core of our operations.
  • Utilise analytical techniques to extract valuable data-driven insights (e.g., patterns, trends, opportunities, and correlations) to support strategic initiatives and decision-making processes.
  • Communicate findings and insights to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and understandable manner, translating data into compelling stories that inform strategic decisions.
  • Monitor and assess data quality to identify and rectify inconsistencies or errors, while assisting in reconciling discrepancies between data warehouses and finance systems to ensure data integrity.
  • Extract, clean, and transform data from multiple sources into a usable format for analysis and reporting purposes.
  • Collaborate with data stewards and other stakeholders to develop and enforce data quality policies, standards and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and organisational data governance standards
  • Drive process improvements in data management and analysis by continuously innovating and exploring new methods to enhance business performance and extract greater value from data.

The key skills required for this role include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Management, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in data analytics (or similar role), preferably within a finance environment.
  • Experience with data analysis and visualisation tools (e.g. Excel, Power BI, Tableau, Python, & SQL)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret complex data sets and extract meaningful insights.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis and data modelling.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and financial databases is a plus.
  • Knowledge of data quality management principles, governance, architecture, and best practices.
  • Understanding of database systems and data warehousing concepts.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex data insights to all stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a proactive approach to identifying and solving data-related challenges.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage and prioritise multiple projects effectively.
