Your Future Team
We are a dedicated team of data engineers and analysts within the FinOps organisation, which operates under the Core Engineering department.
Our mission is to drive cost efficiency to sustain Atlassian's growth. We focus on bringing relevant data and compelling insights, helping teams make informed decisions at speed and sustain their unit economics.
As a Data Engineer, reporting to Senior Engineering Manager - FinOps Insight, you will help build and manage world-class data pipelines and data product that power analytics, insights, machine learning, and AI to drive cost efficiency and uplift FinOps maturity across Atlassian. We work directly with the business stakeholders, internal engineering teams and external vendors to build data solutions and applications that power crucial business decisions throughout the organisation.
Your daily responsibilities will encompass a broad spectrum of tasks ranging from maintaining Atlassian's cloud cost management system, building scalable analytics data models, running experiment and innovations, to continuously improving operational excellence.
We are looking for an open-minded, structured thinker who is passionate about building solutions that scale. We're all about enabling growth by delivering the right data and insights in the right way across the company.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 1-3+ years experience building and scaling data models using large amounts of data
  • Bachelors or Masters degree
  • Expertise in Python or Java with the ability to write performant production-quality code
  • Expertise in writing SQL, structuring data, and data storage practices
  • Experience building data pipelines and microservices
  • Experience with Spark, Airflow and other streaming technologies to process incredible volumes of streaming data
  • Experience with Cloud data environments (AWS, Databricks)
  • Strong hands-on experience in designing and developing curated datasets for data science and machine learning
  • Proven analytical, communication, and organisational skills and the ability to prioritise multiple tasks at a given time.
  • Agile development mindset, appreciating the benefit of constant iteration and improvement

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science
  • Experience working in a consumer or B2C space for a SaaS product provider, or the enterprise B2B space
  • Experience with deep learning based models and LLM related applications
  • Experience in developing, publishing, and maintaining sophisticated reports/dashboards/visualisation, using tools like Tableau, Databricks
  • Excelling in solving ambiguous and complex problems, being able to navigate through uncertain situations, breaking down complex challenges into manageable components and developing innovative solutions
