At Intelligen, we’re building something different. Over the past three years, we’ve evolved from a bold startup to a trusted partner for some of Australia’s most complex data transformations. We’ve helped organisations move from legacy to modern platforms, embedded governance into decision-making, and brought AI into the hands of the business -responsibly and at speed.
But we’re just getting started. As we scale into our next phase of growth, we’re looking for senior, seasoned consultants who don’t just want to deliver great solutions but help shape the future of data, governance, and AI capability.
We’re looking for a Data Governance (Senior Consultant) who can help our clients turn governance into a genuine business enabler across data, analytics, and AI. You’ll work across people, process, and technology to design, implement, and sustain governance programs that improve trust in data, strengthen compliance, and enable responsible AI adoption.
This role is perfect for someone who thrives at the intersection of strategy and delivery - comfortable advising executives one moment and working hands-on with data teams the next.
You’ll be highly client-facing in this role, acting as a trusted advisor who can challenge constructively, push back where needed, and help clients make pragmatic governance decisions that balance control with delivery.
This role also requires a strong coordinator who can bring together business, data and risk stakeholders to drive alignment, maintain momentum, and ensure governance initiatives translate into practical outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Design and implement enterprise data governance frameworks, policies, standards, and operating models aligned to client goals and industry best practice.
- Define the Enterprise Data Governance model and operating rhythm to underpin AI, analytics, and broader data transformation initiatives.
- Establish minimum standards for AI-enabling data, including data quality, lineage, metadata, access, and accountability.
- Map AI governance requirements to existing data governance artefacts, controls, and business processes.
- Contribute to the AI Governance Framework and Operating Model, ensuring alignment between responsible AI practices and enterprise data foundations.
- Define and document data ownership, stewardship, and accountability models across business and technology functions.
- Provide strong day-to-day coordination across client stakeholders, ensuring governance decisions, actions, and dependencies are managed effectively across business and technical teams.
- Support the establishment of data quality management processes, metrics, controls, and monitoring mechanisms.
- Facilitate workshops, stakeholder forums, and training sessions to drive adoption, engagement, and cultural change around data ownership, literacy, and responsible AI.
- Collaborate with client leadership to improve decision-making, regulatory compliance, business performance, and confidence in AI and analytics outcomes.
Requirements
- 6+ years’ experience in data governance, data management, information management, or consulting roles.
- Experience developing and implementing data governance policies and procedures within complex organisational environments.
- Strong understanding of data governance principles, frameworks, and best practices, including familiarity with DAMA-DMBOK and related governance disciplines.
- Proven experience designing or implementing governance frameworks, policies, standards, stewardship models, and operating models.
- Experience supporting AI and digital transformation initiatives through strong data governance foundations.
- Strong understanding of the foundational data capabilities required to enable AI, including data quality, metadata, lineage, access controls, and governance by design.
- Experience mapping governance requirements across business, risk, compliance, and technology stakeholders.
- Familiarity with metadata management, data cataloguing, and lineage tools such as Collibra, Informatica, Alation, or similar platforms.
- Exposure to data quality management processes, controls, and tooling.
- Strong consulting and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to advise senior leaders while also working closely with delivery teams.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills - able to translate governance concepts into practical business value for both executive and operational audiences.
- Comfortable working in multi-disciplinary teams spanning strategy, engineering, analytics, and AI.
