Role Title: Data Observability Engineer
Role Description: The position is primarily a technical hands-on role, with responsibility to conduct capability development of data observability and monitoring tooling, as well as broader design, build, maintenance and configuration control tasks for data analytics. The Data Observability Engineer will lead the development and maturation of LNIC’s data observability and analytics frameworks and processes, which will directly contribute to LNIC’s ability to plan, execute and demonstrate digital integration test & evaluation, as well as risk reduction activities.
This role requires advanced Linux expertise, experience in monitoring and capturing data over various mediums, data analytics, automation, and strong proficiency in multi-disciplinary team environments and generating technical documentation.
This position requires a combination of disciplines including technical hands-on communications systems engineering, network engineering, innovation, and Dev Sec Ops. The role is primarily aligned to technology and capabilities from, or interfacing to, projects delivered within Land and the Joint capability programs.
As a technical subject matter expert within a small team the candidate will also be expected to contribute to the design of LCSSE hardware and software solutions, as well as review project design documentation and provide advice on integration across system interfaces.
Essential Requirements: Extensive experience in Data Observation and Analytics such as ELK, Elastic Stacks and Netflow
b. Extensive experience with Linux based systems, primarily with Red Hat based operating systems.
c. Relevant experience in developing/employing DevSecOps systems (CI/CD pipelines, GitLab)
d. Proficiency in code languages & scripts – Python, Bash, PowerShell, Java, C, C++, etc.
e. Proficiency in API development, configuration and integration
f. Strong knowledge of networking, storage, and virtualisation (KVM, VMware).
Familiarity with integrating emerging technologies into secure infrastructure.
i. Clearance: NV1 or higher (mandatory for access to classified systems).
Desirable Requirements:
Industry certifications in Data Engineering (e.g. – Google Cloud, MS Azure, AWS Certified Data Analytics).
b. Industry certifications in data observability (Datadog, New Relic, Prometheus, Grafana, etc).
c. Tertiary or vocational qualifications in data engineering, data analytics, IT engineering, or related fields
d. 10+ years relevant experience in Data Engineering and Analytics roles
e. Systems engineering qualifications, experience or exposure
f. Defence test & evaluation training and experience
g. Experience or exposure to employing Agile project management practices and processes
Required Security Clearance Level: NV1. The successful candidate may be required to undergo a security clearance upgrade to NV2 over the course of the contract.
