Build your career and Australia’s future.
Not many people can say they are working on building Australia’s future. With us you’ll be doing just that, leaving a legacy for all Australians. Plus, there’s equal employment, great training, and true flexible working arrangements.
A fantastic opportunity has been presented for a Data Scientist.
A bit about your role
As a Data Scientist at nbn, you will play a central role in shaping how we harness data to drive meaningful outcomes for the business and the communities we serve. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design and deliver advanced analytics engines and services, using AI and machine learning to solve complex problems with clarity and purpose. Your work will be deeply collaborative, involving agile partnerships with data engineers, software developers, and business stakeholders to ensure that models are not only accurate but also scalable, interpretable, and seamlessly integrated into our data products and processes. You will be a trusted voice in the organisation, helping to translate data into actionable insights and advocating for data-driven decision-making across nbn. With a strong focus on innovation, you will explore emerging technologies and unlock their potential to create lasting value.
A bit about you
If this sounds like the kind of challenge you’re ready for, you’ll likely bring a strong foundation in data science, with at least two years of experience applying machine learning in real-world settings. You are confident working in Python and SQL, and you understand how to build and deploy models that are both technically sound and business-relevant. You’re curious and thoughtful, with a collaborative mindset that thrives in diverse teams. You communicate with clarity and empathy, making complex ideas accessible and engaging. You’re passionate about continuous learning—whether that’s through mentoring others, contributing to the data science community, or staying connected to the latest developments in the field. Most importantly, you’re motivated by purpose and impact, and you see data not just as numbers, but as a powerful tool for shaping a better future.
