The opportunity

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Delegated Underwriting Authority (DUA) Specialist with reasonable experience to join our DUA Governance team. This role focuses on testing and validating controls implemented by third-party underwriting agencies to ensure compliance with QBE’s operational standards, regulatory obligations (e.g. CPS230, DDO), and conduct risk frameworks.

Your new role

A day in the role may look a bit like this:

  • Draft audit reports to highlight themes and opportunities and assist with issue tracking and resolution.
  • Support third-party risk assessments using CPS230-aligned triage tools across domains like information security, financial crime, sanctions, and AI usage, and engage Coverholders to complete annual appraisals and risk questionnaires.
  • Document findings and escalate non-compliance in line with the Delegated Underwriting Authority Governance & Operational Standard, while contributing to remediation planning and audit reporting.
  • Help maintain the Underwriting Agreement Database and manage content within the Underwriting Agreement Repository.
  • Respond to stakeholder enquiries professionally, build strong relationships across internal and external teams, collaborate with Underwriting, Risk, and Agency Enablement, and contribute to governance forums and continuous improvement of DUA oversight.

About you

To succeed in this role, you will have considerable experience in compliance, audit, or risk management, ideally within the insurance or financial services sector. A background in an audit or professional services firm is highly valued, along with familiarity in delegated authority frameworks and third-party risk management practices.

You will have:

  • Proven experience working in compliance, audit, or risk management, preferably within insurance or financial services.
  • Good understanding of underwriting processes and controls, control design and testing
  • Experience working with regulatory standards such as APRA CPS230 or Design & Distribution Obligations is considered a strong asset.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships across internal and external teams.
  • Work effectively both independently and collaboratively, showing strong time management, problem-solving, and analytical capabilities to deliver outcomes efficiently.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications including Word, Excel, and Access, with the ability to apply these tools to support decision-making and reporting.
