The Opportunity

Cochlear is seeking a Design Operations Specialist to help build the foundations of a high-functioning, high-impact design practice. This strategic individual contributor role offers global exposure and the opportunity to influence how we deliver clinician- and patient-centered digital experiences across our customer-facing software portfolio.

This role is pivotal in building and managing a global user testing panel across multiple regions and time zones, supporting product teams in user research operations, and ensuring those teams can conduct rapid, safe, repeatable testing.  We’re looking for someone who can work asynchronously and independently across three time zones (Australia, Europe and America). The position is remote-friendly and emphasizes operationalizing user research to inform product decisions and enable innovation across our customer software portfolio.

What You’ll Do

User Research Operations

  • Manage global research participant panels and logistics.

  • Support recruitment, scheduling, and compliance with data privacy regulations.

  • Maintain and optimize research tools like Maze, UserTesting, and Dovetail.

Design Tooling & Enablement

  • Administer and support design tools (Figma, Zeroheight, TheyDo).

  • Be the go-to person for tooling queries and onboarding.

  • Evaluate and recommend new tools, including AI-based solutions.

Ways of Working & Craft Support

  • Enhance team rituals and consistency in design practices.

  • Develop reusable templates, checklists, and playbooks.

  • Support capability-building initiatives across the UX team.

Practice Foundations & Future Measures

  • Help define and document Cochlear’s UX working model.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to scale UX practices.

  • Contribute to foundational metrics for continuous improvement.

What You’ll Bring

Required Skills

  • 3–5 years in Design Ops, Research Ops, or UX Enablement.

  • Proficiency with Figma, Maze, Dovetail, Confluence, and Zeroheight.

  • Strong communication, documentation, and stakeholder engagement.

  • Highly organized and proactive across time zones.

Desired Skills

  • Experience in global or regulated environments.

  • Familiarity with design systems, agile rituals, and discovery frameworks.

  • Interest in AI tools and process automation.

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, HCI, Psychology, Business, or related field.

  • Certifications in UX research, agile, or project management are a plus.
