The Opportunity

As our Design Project Manager (Rail), you will play a key leadership role in the successful delivery of major rail and transport infrastructure projects across NSW.

Reporting to the Discipline Manager, Project & Design Management, you will lead multidisciplinary teams to deliver complex rail projects, taking accountability for project performance across scope, schedule, commercial outcomes, quality, risk and client satisfaction.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced project or design manager who thrives in a client-facing environment and enjoys leading integrated teams to deliver impactful transport infrastructure outcomes.

 

What You'll Do

Project & Design Leadership

  • Lead the delivery of rail and transport infrastructure projects from planning through to completion.
  • Take ownership of project outcomes, including program, budget, risk, quality and commercial performance.
  • Establish and manage project execution plans in line with KBR's project delivery frameworks.
  • Provide governance, assurance and strategic guidance across multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Manage project interfaces and stakeholder relationships to ensure successful delivery outcomes.
  • Support project and design managers in identifying, mitigating and escalating delivery risks.
  • Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with KBR's quality management systems and project controls.

Team Leadership

  • Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary teams across civil, structural, building services, environmental and specialist disciplines.
  • Manage internal teams and external subconsultants to achieve project objectives.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performing and safety-focused team culture.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring and support to project personnel.

Client & Business Development

  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships across the NSW rail and transport sector.
  • Act as a trusted advisor, ensuring client expectations are effectively managed and exceeded.
  • Identify opportunities for repeat work and long-term client partnerships.
  • Support business development activities and contribute to strategic growth initiatives.

Bid & Pursuit Support

  • Contribute to pursuit strategies, methodology development and proposal preparation.
  • Support positioning and winning of new opportunities across local and national markets.
  • Assist with project pursuits of varying size and complexity.
  • Collaborate across business units to support integrated client solutions.

Who You Are

You are a proven project delivery leader with extensive experience delivering multidisciplinary rail and transport infrastructure projects.

You will ideally bring:

  • Significant experience in project management and/or design management within the rail sector.
  • Demonstrated success delivering complex infrastructure projects through design phases.
  • Strong commercial acumen, including management of budgets, fees, schedules and risk.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and consultant interfaces.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and client relationship management capabilities.
  • Well-developed communication, leadership and influencing skills.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering, Project Management or a related discipline.
  • Professional registration and/or Chartered status will be highly regarded.
