Job Description

An exciting opportunity exists to join the dynamic team at Nine.com.au, one of Australia's leading digital platforms. We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Digital News Producer to focus on breaking news and compelling storytelling across all our verticals, including news, lifestyle, sport and entertainment for distribution across all platforms  including articles, video, and social media.

This role requires an individual who has a broad interest in all facets of news. We're looking for a candidate who is comfortable writing about everything from breaking news to MAFS, Taylor Swift, and health and wellness trends. We want you to bring enthusiasm and original ideas to produce stories that resonate with the Australian audience.

Key Responsibilities

Day to day you will:

  • Write and produce high-quality, daily content for Nine.com.au, meeting rolling deadlines in a timely manner.
  • Pitch original stories (articles and videos) and actively manage breaking news coverage.
  • Upload and publish stories using the Content Management System (CMS), with training provided.
  • Source and interview talent, demonstrating the ability to work effectively and unsupervised.
  • Amplify published content across various platforms, including social media, Google Discover, and Showcase.
  • Utilise data and dashboards daily to achieve agreed content performance benchmarks (training provided).
  • Contribute innovative ideas in daily news meetings and collaborate across the wide-ranging newsroom.
  • Pitch visual storytelling concepts and coordinate with the graphics team and vertical video team for execution.
  • Monitor and understand media trends, with a commitment to upskilling in new technologies.

Please note: Shift work and weekend work will be required for this position

Qualifications

What you'll bring:

  • Proven experience in a digital media environment.
  • Proven ability to write fast, accurate copy and meet rolling deadlines under pressure.
  • Strong grammar and exceptional research capabilities.
  • Strong photo editing and digital video skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and first-hand experience publishing in a CMS.
  • Impeccable attention to detail and a strong news sense.
