Overview:
Mastercard’s Business Development team is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director, Business Development for Australia and New Zealand.
This role is critical in driving future global revenue by identifying, developing, and closing high-impact opportunities across new and existing customers and markets.
We are looking for a sales leader with a track record of delivering results, creating strategic pipelines, and driving revenue growth through direct client engagement and cross-functional collaboration.
As a senior client-facing leader, you will:
- Build and maintain a robust sales pipeline across key verticals.
- Close deals through direct selling to C-suite executives, founders, and other key decision-makers.
- Champion innovative solutions by aligning client needs with Mastercard’s capabilities and technology.
- Develop business cases and financial models to support strategic opportunities.
- Lead negotiations and manage the contracting process in collaboration with Legal and other departments.
- Establish feedback loops to continuously improve the sales process.
- Spearhead marketing initiatives and events to elevate Mastercard’s brand and presence in the region.
- Collaborate across functions—Product, Finance, Legal, Franchise, and Data—to drive business development efficiency and effectiveness.
What We’re Looking For:
- Extensive sales experience in building and closing complex sales pipelines, enterprise solution sales or relationship management across Payments or Banking. Experience in card issuing, processing, or SaaS is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to win competitive deals and grow revenue across diverse verticals, demonstrating experience in leading and managing RFI and RFPs.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and pivoting quickly based on client needs and market dynamics.
- Adept at influencing stakeholders within a matrixed, global organization.
- Skilled at building deep relationships with financial institutions and ecosystem leaders.
- Strong commercial judgment, analytical skills, and a data-driven mindset.
- Superior presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills, comfortable preparing high quality sales and solutions presentations and ability to deliver presentations to a large executive audience with confidence.
