About the Role:

As the Director of the Devices Mechanical Engineering, you will spearhead a world-class team of 40-50 Mechanical Engineers located across Sydney, Singapore and LA.

From a base of Sydney, you will lead the development of cutting-edge mechanical designs, architecting the future generation of ResMed's connected devices.

Opportunity:

  • Lead the Devices Mechanical group to drive profitable growth by delivering the highest standards of design, development, quality, and value.
  • Shape the future of digitally enabled solutions through global collaboration with Product Marketing, Technology, Product Development, and Program Management teams.
  • Expectation to work on-site at Bella Vista campus ~3 days per week (as required)
  • Part-time work arrangements will be considered to support individual needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a compelling vision and strategy for Devices Mechanical, fostering organisational engagement and accountability.
  • Drive adoption of state-of-the-art processes for efficiency and quality of output and best practices in product development across teams.
  • Ensure that solutions optimise value delivery and user satisfaction.
  • Recruit diverse talent, foster an empowering environment, inspire performance and develop team capabilities.
  • Establish and nurture key external and internal relationships to support business growth and regulatory compliance.
  • Manage project resources, budgets, risks, and timelines to ensure successful product delivery.
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards, regulatory requirements, and intellectual property protection.

Qualifications and Experience:

We’re looking for an influential and collaborative people leader, adapt at leading high-performing technical teams.

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven leadership experience in managing engineering teams developing complex hardware solutions in a matrix structure environment
  • Exceptional communication and people management skills
  • Ability to work with complexity and ambiguity to find creative solutions to problems.
  • Results-oriented mindset with a track record of delivering projects within scope, timeline, and budget.
  • Familiarity with product development life cycle and project management methodology
  • Experience in product development for high-volume manufacturing of medical device, small domestic appliances, consumer goods, automotive or other electro-mechanical device.
