The Opportunity

Cochlear has an opportunity for a Director, Financial Reporting and Control, APAC based in our Macquarie University office. In this senior leadership role, you’ll lead the regional financial accounting function, manage a high-performing team, and drive strategic financial outcomes across Asia Pacific.

This is a high-impact role with global visibility, where you’ll partner with senior leaders, influence global finance strategy, and ensure operational excellence across diverse markets. You’ll be responsible for embedding strong financial governance, delivering accurate and timely reporting, and enabling commercial insight through business partnering.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead strategic finance initiatives across APAC, with deep experience in China market operations
  • Play a key role in Cochlear’s SAP transformation and modernization of our outsourced finance model
  • Bring a commercial mindset to drive strategic outcomes beyond operational execution
  • Contribute to APAC finance strategy and be a leader in the global finance forums
  • Accountable for regional financial accounting, reporting, and compliance
  • Responsible for the regional financial control framework
  • Manage working capital, including receivables and inventory
  • Oversee regional finance projects and Sales Commission Plan execution
  • Build and develop a high-performing finance team aligned to Cochlear’s HEAR behaviours
  • Ensure compliance with country-specific tax, accounting and auditing standards
  • Deliver monthly financial analysis packs and insightful commentary to support decision-making
  • Partner with IT, Procurement, Supply and People & Culture to drive improvements in systems, processes and incentive programs

About You

To add value in this role, you’ll bring:

  • Proven experience in China market operations and regional leadership
  • Track record of leading finance transformation initiatives, including ERP (SAP) implementations
  • Experience in building and managing outsourced finance service provider relationships
  • CA / CPA / CIMA qualification
  • 10+ years’ experience in financial control or finance management
  • Strong commercial acumen and leadership capability
  • Experience across APAC markets and multinational environments
