About the team

We're seeking an experienced, strategic marketer to be Director, Marketing for Turo Australia. This role owns the full growth funnel across both Demand (Guest) and Supply (Hosts) sides of our marketplace, managing marketing strategy, team performance, strategic partnerships, agencies and global stakeholder relationships. You'll drive marketplace growth through data-driven strategies, lead a marketing team, and act as the commercial bridge between Turo Australia and global functions including our shared marketing resources, marketing/supply leadership, FP&A and legal. You'll own P&L accountability for the marketing function, managing performance against Board targets and ensuring the business delivers on growth and profitability objectives.

The ideal candidate is commercially minded, comfortable balancing competing marketplace priorities, and thrives managing complex cross-functional relationships. You'll move between strategic planning and hands-on execution, combining rigorous data analysis with creative problem-solving. This role is a fantastic opportunity to lead real marketplace impact at a critical growth phase for Turo Australia.

The Director, Marketing is a full-time position reporting to the Managing Director, Australia. This role sits in the Australian Leadership Team.

What you’ll do
  • Lead brand marketing strategy and communications: You'll develop brand positioning and strategy across media, influencers, PR, activations and social to build trust, reinforce marketplace differentiation, and support growth. You'll localise the global brand platform for the Australian market while maintaining consistency and staying attuned to competitive and market dynamics.

  • Own Demand-side growth strategy and execution: You'll develop and execute comprehensive guest acquisition and retention strategies and roadmaps across all channels — paid, organic, partnerships, and CRM — balancing volume and profitability goals with strategic projects. You'll manage capital allocation, optimise conversion funnels, and drive contribution profit growth through data-driven experimentation and creative campaigns.

  • Own Supply-side growth strategy and execution: You'll lead our host acquisition and engagement strategy, developing city-level supply growth playbooks, managing supply acquisition channels, optimising the host lifecycle journey and increasing the lifetime value of our supply.

  • Balance two-sided marketplace dynamics: You'll navigate competing priorities between Demand and Supply growth, ensuring capital allocation decisions optimise for conversion and overall platform health, rather than chasing single-sided metrics.

  • Lead, mentor and manage the marketing team: You'll build and develop a high-performing team of growth marketers and specialists, setting clear OKRs, providing coaching and feedback, building their capabilities, and ensuring accountability to business outcomes.

  • Manage global stakeholder relationships: You'll partner effectively with global marketing and supply leadership, the creative studio, and regional teams to ensure Turo Australia strategy is aligned with global brand and product direction while maintaining local agility and relevance. You'll communicate business needs clearly and collaborate to drive shared priorities.

  • Manage agencies and partnerships: You'll oversee agency relationships and evaluate partnership opportunities to extend our capabilities (creative, media, data), manage performance and budgets, and ensure they deliver against our growth objectives.

  • Partner with FP&A, accounting and legal on forecasting and compliance: You'll work with finance to model marketing spend scenarios, forecast ROAS and customer acquisition cost impacts on business projections, set the annual budget and reconcile actuals against the budget. You'll collaborate with legal on compliance requirements for promotional campaigns, host incentive programs, and marketplace terms — ensuring all marketing initiatives meet regulatory obligations and company risk standards.

  • Own P&L accountability: You'll manage the marketing P&L, monitor performance against Board targets and business forecasts, and ensure accountability for delivering on growth and profitability objectives. You'll own capital allocation decisions and demonstrate clear ROI on all marketing investments.

  • Analyse and report results: You'll use data to establish clear KPIs, monitor campaign and funnel performance across both Demand and Supply, make data-driven optimisations, and report weekly, monthly and quarterly on business impact and marketplace health to leadership.

Your profile
  • At least 10+ years of marketing experience, ideally including 2+ years in a growth marketing or marketplace environment with a strong track record of driving measurable business outcomes

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing or a related field.

  • Proven ability to manage and develop marketing teams

  • Strong grasp of two-sided marketplace economics, supply/demand dynamics, and unit economics

  • Proven experience developing and evolving brand strategy and positioning with demonstrated success managing brand marketing channels (media, influencers, PR, social)

  • Deep expertise with performance marketing channels (SEM, paid social, affiliate, email/CRM, partnerships)

  • Experience managing agency relationships and external vendors

  • Advanced proficiency with AI tools, analytics and marketing platforms (Claude, GA4, Ads Managers etc.)

  • Strong financial acumen—comfortable with budgeting, forecasting, and ROAS analysis

  • Excellent communication skills—able to present strategy and insights to senior leadership

  • Demonstrated ability to balance competing priorities and manage in a matrix environment

  • Experience managing global stakeholder relationships across distributed teams

Bonus if you have
  • Nice-to-have: Experience in high-growth B2C tech or marketplaces, familiarity with host/supply-side marketing strategy
