As our CRO continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced and inspiring Director, Project Management to provide strategic leadership across our clinical trial portfolio. This fully remote, senior leadership role is accountable for the performance, development and oversight of the CRO Project Management team, while ensuring the successful delivery of complex oncology studies in line with regulatory and client expectations.


This role is ideal for a seasoned CRO leader who thrives in building high-performing teams, driving operational excellence and delivering outstanding sponsor experiences. Your success in this role will be driven by your ability to lead and mentor teams, proactively manage risk, build trusted stakeholder relationships and consistently deliver high-quality outcomes for sponsors.

More Specifically, you will be responsible to:

 

  • Joint accountability with the Senior Director of Clinical Operations and Safety for project profitability, financial efficiency and client deliverables across assigned trials and direct reports

  • Line management, coaching and development of Clinical Project Managers and Clinical Project Assistants

  • Workforce planning, hiring and resource allocation aligned with project budgets and delivery requirements

  • Oversight of clinical trial operations, ensuring adherence to study protocols, ICH-GCP and applicable regulations

  • Proactive identification of project risks, working with stakeholders to implement effective mitigation strategies

  • Ownership of sponsor and customer relationships, ensuring clear communication, timely issue resolution and high client satisfaction

  • Establishing and managing relationships with vendors, service providers and external business partners

  • Partnering with Quality Assurance, Business Development and cross-functional teams to deliver consistent, high-quality CRO services aligned with business strategy

  • Establishing and monitoring clinical study metrics to drive continuous improvement in performance, quality, timelines and cost efficiency

  • Supporting business process improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and accountability

  • Contributing to business development activities, including RFP reviews, bid defences and assessment of new opportunities

  • Supporting and contributing to the execution of the overall CRO business strategy


We're interested in hearing from people who have:

  • Advanced degree in Life Sciences (e.g. Biology, Chemistry, Pharmaceuticals)

  • 10+ years’ experience in clinical research within a CRO (preferred), pharmaceutical or biotechnology setting

  • Extensive experience across all aspects of clinical trial management, including CRO operating models, governance, finance, quality systems and SOP frameworks

  • Proven success leading Australian clinical trials, with exposure across project management, medical and scientific affairs, safety/pharmacovigilance, quality assurance, data management and site operations

  • Strong, practical knowledge of ICH-GCP requirements across multiple jurisdictions

  • Oncology therapeutic area experience (highly desirable)

  • Experience working with international and virtual teams across APAC, Europe and the US

  • Strong people leadership, organisational and prioritisation skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including reporting and presentations

  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required
