Company Description

Nine is Australia’s largest media company. Working at Nine, you’ll have access to a unique range of experiences and opportunities, helping drive the success of our television, streaming, subscription, digital and publishing brands.

The Streaming & Broadcast (S&B) division brings together Stan, 9Now, Broadcast Television and Radio under one integrated, audience-first vision. Together, we reach almost every Australian with trusted news, premium entertainment and live sport moments that matter. From Stan Originals and world-class sport, to free-to-air, digital and audio experiences, we combine scale, creativity and innovation to shape the future of Australian media.

Job Description

Reporting to the Executive Director - Entertainment Content Acquisitions, this role will define and execute the off-platform strategy for Nine’s S&B division by bringing together a new centre of excellence, housing our  off-platform teams in one function. This function will natively build audiences and community off-platform (i.e. on platforms not owned and operated by Nine, including social media platforms), in order to materially grow revenue, while also building brand value and contributing to marketing outcomes. This role will lead the entertainment, sport and news off-platform teams across Channel 9, 9NOW and Stan.

Day to day, you will:

  • Develop and Execute Strategy: Define and lead the overall digital and social video content strategy for off-platform engagement to grow audiences, community and revenue, ensuring alignment with S&B organisational goals and values.
  • Lead Growth Ambition: Significantly grow incremental off-platform revenue, in order to deliver a rapid scaling of EBITDA contribution.
  • Audience Building: Build audience and community off-platform, complementary to Owned & Operated platforms and leverage this growing off-platform community to contribute to commercial outcomes for the Nine portfolio.
  • Social Strategies: Evolve social strategies around key brands and Intellectual Property (IP) that drive incremental value on and off-platform.
  • Content & Content Innovation: Drive off-platform content creation and identify and leverage emerging trends to drive innovative content and maximise the freedoms of social media to create "pilots of the future" and experiment with formats and ideas.
  • International Growth: Lead the strategy to target high-yield international audiences, exporting Australian content to key markets.
  • Monetisation Strategy: Drive incremental commercial value by monetising hard-to-reach audiences and demographics where they are.
  • Platform Relationships: Strengthen relationships with major social platforms (e.g., TikTok, Google, Meta).

What you'll bring:

  • Proven Leadership: Proven experience leading digital teams, managing video content, and growing audience on digital platforms.
  • Digital Expertise: Extensive knowledge and experience across digital platforms and online video.
  • Platform Relationships: Established relationships with social media platforms.
  • Commercial Success: Proven success in increasing audience and revenue.
  • Financial Management: Experience in budget and P&L management for effective financial oversight and resource allocation.
  • Content Creation: Experience in content creation across news, sport and entertainment.
  • Strategic Thinking: Must be a strategic thinker, adept at anticipating trends and clearly articulating complex ideas.
  • Analytical Skills: Deep knowledge of digital distribution platforms and metrics, with strong analytical skills.
