Job Description

The Technology Director is the single-threaded technical owner responsible for the vision, strategy, and execution of Nine's most critical transformation: the integrated Consumer Platform. This multi-year, multi-million dollar program unifies disparate Streaming and Publishing technologies into a single foundation for audience identity, engagement, and commerce. You will de-risk a high-stakes delivery program, lead a 50-75+ person multi-disciplinary engineering organization, and be accountable for the platform underpinning future revenue growth, including a forecast 10% uplift in N28 revenue.

Key Accountabilities:

Strategic & Technical Leadership

  • Define the long-term technical vision and strategy (Identity, Subscriptions, Billing, Martech) with the Product Director.
  • Lead the technical discovery, definition, and vendor selection (RFP) for the core platform stacks.
  • Champion the graceful deprecation of legacy systems.
  • Drive innovation through AI and strategic resourcing.

Delivery & Program Execution

  • Lead the entire Consumer Platform engineering organization (~50-75+), including Accounts, Commerce, and Growth domains.
  • Own the execution of the roadmap, ensuring scheduled value delivery (targeting the LA Olympics milestone).
  • Manage a complex resource plan (onshore, offshore, new hires).
  • Oversee the multi million dollar budget for efficient allocation and de-risked delivery.

Stakeholder & Vendor Management

  • Act as the key technology partner to the Product Director and senior executives.
  • Present strategy, progress, and budget updates to C-level, ELT, and the Board.
  • Lead and manage key technology vendor and implementation partner relationships, holding them accountable.

Qualifications

What You Bring:

  • 15+ years of experience in technology leadership, with a proven track record of delivering large-scale, complex digital transformation programs in a consumer-facing, high-traffic environment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing large, multi-disciplinary engineering organizations (50-100+), including the management of offshore and vendor teams.
  • Deep strategic acumen with the ability to translate business goals into a coherent technical strategy and executable roadmap.
  • Extensive experience with vendor evaluation, selection (RFP), and management for business-critical systems (e.g., CIAM, Subscription Billing, Payment Gateways).
  • Strong financial and budget management skills, with experience overseeing multi-million dollar programs of work.
  • Exceptional executive-level communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and align individuals from the engineering-level to the boardroom.
  • Experience in media, streaming (SVOD/BVOD), or publishing industries is highly desirable.
