We are hiring an employment legal counsel to support our operations and growth in the Asia Pacific region, to include Australia, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, the PRC, and Singapore. This role will partner with teams across Snowflake to advise on employment matters. This is an in-person role that will report to Snowflake’s Director, Assistant General Counsel - Employment and will be based out of Sydney, Australia; Pune, India; or Singapore.

What You’ll Do

  • Drive and deliver pragmatic legal advice for the Asia Pacific region, covering a wide range of employment law issues including:

    • Recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and offboarding processes.

    • Compensation, beneifits, and executive remuneration.

    • Leaves of absence, disability accommodations, and flexible working requests.

    • Contingent worker and contractor issues.

    • Development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.

    • Performance management, disciplinary actions, and grievances.

    • Conducting and advising on internal investigations.

    • Managing and advising on redundancies and reorganisations.

    • Advising on and engaging with employee representative bodies across the region, where applicable.

  • Draft, negotiate, and enforce employment-related agreements, templates, and forms (e.g., employment contracts, consulting agreements, settlement agreements, restrictive covenants).

  • Build and implement scalable, compliant employment policies and programmes that support Snowflake's rapid growth and global footprint.

  • Conduct periodic reviews and audits of employment-related policies, processes, and practices to ensure ongoing compliance and effectiveness.

  • Assist in managing and resolving employment-related disputes, governmental agency actions, and litigation matters

  • Monitor changes and updates to employment laws across the Asia Pacific region and proactively advise on developments that may affect the company’s operations.

Requirements

  • Ability to pragmatically weigh risks and benefits of complex legal situations and provide clear, commercial advice

  • A "can-do" attitude, embracing that no project is too big or too small

  • Comfortable thriving in an extremely fast-paced, dynamic, and evolving environment.

  • Enjoy working with people and forging strong relationships

  • Strong experience creating and scaling processes and policies for a rapidly growing company

  • JD, LLB, or equivalent degree

  • Minimum of 4 years of legal experience with substantive employment law experience

  • Law firm experience, in-house experience with a multinational corporation, and/or experience handling employment law issues in the Asia Pacific region preferred

  • Fluent in English; fluency in Japanese, Mandarin, or Korean is a plus

  • Sense of humor!
