Job Description:

Fluence is seeking a Energy Markets Analyst to help identify and pursue commercial opportunities emerging from Australia's energy transition and one of the most dynamic energy markets in the world. The role involves working developing business cases, modelling project economics, and translating market insights into recommendations that support product positioning, customer engagement and commercial decision-making.

This role sits within the Australia Policy & Market Strategy team which helps Fluence understand where the market is heading and how the business should respond. The team combines market intelligence, commercial analysis, policy advocacy and industry engagement to support Fluence’s growth.

As part of a small, high-impact team, you will have opportunities to work across a broad range of market, commercial and industry topics, gaining exposure to diverse perspectives from across the energy sector.

This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially minded analyst who enjoys solving real business problems, is excited by the pace of change in Australia's energy sector, and wants to help turn market insights into actions that support both Fluence's growth and the broader decarbonisation of the electricity system.

Responsibilities

  • Research, analyse, and interpret market developments to support Fluence's commercial, product, and customer engagement activities across Australia.
  • Monitor market trends, customer needs, and competitor activity to generate insights that inform support product positioning, customer engagement and commercial decision-making.
  • Develop market insights and strategic recommendations that support decision-making across Australian and global teams.
  • Build and support business cases, project economics, and IRR models to evaluate new products, services, and market opportunities.
  • Contribute to customer segmentation and market sizing that help Fluence prioritise customers, markets and growth opportunities.
  • Partner with Sales and Business Development teams to communicate market developments and emerging commercial opportunities.
  • Leverage analysis to support the development of sales enablement materials and customer-facing insights.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate market intelligence, customer needs and regulatory developments into practical commercial initiatives and product improvements.
  • Develop analytical tools, reporting frameworks, and market intelligence resources that support decision-making.
  • Contribute to initiatives that strengthen Fluence's competitiveness and market position.
  • Support industry engagement and thought leadership activities where appropriate.
     

Required

  • 2+ years of experience in energy markets, renewable energy, infrastructure, advisory, market analytics, economics, policy, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex market, commercial, technical, or regulatory information.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience working with financial models, project economics, business cases, or IRR analysis.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to develop clear recommendations from complex data and competing priorities.
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple workstreams effectively.
     

Additional Skills

  • Experience in customer segmentation, market sizing, competitor analysis, or market opportunity assessment.
  • Exposure to product positioning, sales enablement, customer engagement, or go-to-market initiatives.
  • Capability in Python, AI, automation, or data analytics tools to support research, modelling, and insight generation.
  • Understanding of Australia's energy transition and the role of energy storage in supporting a low-carbon electricity system.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across technical, commercial, and policy-focused teams.
  • Curiosity, commercial acumen, and a proactive approach to identifying opportunities and solving business challenges.
  • Experience preparing presentations, reports, and recommendations for senior stakeholders and decision-makers.
