Who is Quantium?

Quantium is a world leader in data science and artificial intelligence. Established in Australia in 2002, Quantium is a global team of more than 1,200 people across 14 locations with a unique blend of capabilities across product and consulting services to help businesses unlock value from data and analytics. Quantium partners with the world's largest corporations to forge a better, more intelligent world.

Our Consulting Engineering team sits at the intersection of engineering excellence and client delivery. We build the data science platforms, AI solutions, and decision engines that sit at the heart of our clients' businesses -- from large-scale retail and financial services organisations to fast-growing digital companies. We don't just advise; we build, ship, and own the outcomes.

About the role

This is a pivotal leadership role in our Consulting Engineering team. As an Engineering Lead, you will be the technical and delivery anchor on client engagements -- shaping problems with clients, guiding engineering teams through execution, and setting the benchmark for what great consulting engineering looks like at Quantium.

This is not a traditional team lead role. Our engagements run in fast-cycle sprints -- typically 45 to 60 days -- and your engineers may be working across different client contexts simultaneously. You will lead through coaching, trust, and technical credibility, rather than through daily task oversight. If you thrive in dynamic, client-facing environments and want to do the most consequential engineering work of your career, this is the role for you.

How will you make an impact?
  • Consulting delivery leadership: You will own engineering delivery across client engagements, from initial scoping through to execution, quality assurance and outcome measurement.
  • Client partnership: You will represent the engineering perspective with senior client stakeholders, translating technical complexity into clear commercial terms and knowing what to communicate and when.
  • Coaching and development: You will guide and develop engineers who may be working across entirely different engagements, building capability through regular check-ins and trust rather than direct day-to-day oversight.
  • Technical quality ownership: You will set the standard for engineering quality and make sound judgement calls on architecture, approach and delivery trade-offs under time and scope pressure.
  • Fast-cycle execution: You will lead delivery across short sprint engagements, shifting context quickly between client environments and keeping teams focused on clear, measurable outcomes.
The superpowers you’ll be bringing to the team:
  • Consulting-first background: You have a genuine consulting engineering background and have represented technical work confidently in front of senior, non-technical clients.
  • Technical credibility: You have strong full stack and/or AI engineering skills, with enough depth to assess quality, guide architectural decisions and hold meaningful technical conversations with both clients and engineers.
  • Coach and mentor: You have experience developing engineers you don't work alongside daily, and are comfortable supporting people in a distributed, project-driven environment.
  • Delivery ownership: You have led engagements end-to-end, including shaping requirements, navigating trade-offs and measuring outcomes, not just delivering against someone else's plan.
  • Stakeholder fluency: You can build trust quickly with senior stakeholders and know how to communicate the right information at the right level.
  • Adaptability: You are comfortable in fast-cycle, ambiguous environments where team structures shift and client context changes regularly.

Remember – you might not tick all the boxes, but don’t let that from stopping you applying. We’re more interested in how you work, your ability to solve problems and think big.

What could your Quantium Experience look like?

Working at Quantium will allow you to challenge your imagination. You will get to solve complex problems using rigor, precision and by asking great questions – but it also means you can think big, outside the box and push your problem-solving skills to the max.

By joining the Quantium team, you’ll get to:

  • Forge your path: So many of our team have moved around different teams or offices. You’ll be in the driver’s seat, and we empower you to make your career your own.
  • Find your kind: Embrace diversity and connect with your tribe (think foodies, dog lovers, readers, or runners).
  • Make an impact: Leave your mark. Your contributions resonate, regardless of your role or rank.
But wait, there’s more!

We’ve got some pretty sweet perks:

  • Flexible work arrangements: Achieve work life balance at your own pace with hybrid and flexible work arrangements.
  • Continuous learning: Our vision is empowering analytics talent to thrive. The Analytics Community fosters the development of individuals, thought leadership and technical excellence at Quantium through building strong connections, fostering collaboration, and co-creation of best practice.
  • Remote working: Embrace the opportunity to work outside of your assigned home location for up to 30 days every year.
Apply now and let's forge a better, more intelligent world together!
