Who is Quantium?

Quantium is a world leader in data science and artificial intelligence. Established in Australia in 2002, Quantium is a global team of more than 1,200 people across 14 locations with a unique blend of capabilities across product and consulting services to help businesses unlock value from data and analytics. Quantium partners with the world's largest corporations to forge a better, more intelligent world.

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the team building Quantium’s internal platform for developing and delivering production-grade AI agents.

The platform gives our technical builders the shared components, templates, infrastructure and guardrails they need to turn validated ideas into working AI solutions faster. Rather than rebuilding the same foundations for every engagement, engineers can focus on the agent itself while the platform supports areas such as identity, storage, integrations, testing and deployment.

The platform is moving from early development into its next phase of hardening and adoption. The immediate challenge is to strengthen its foundations, improve the end-to-end developer experience and enable more engineering teams to build with it successfully. Over time, the solutions created through the platform will be deployed into increasingly complex enterprise and client environments.

This is a deeply technical people leadership role based in Sydney. You’ll lead a team of approximately 10 engineers while remaining close to the architecture, product direction and engineering decisions that shape the platform. You won’t be expected to act as the team’s principal implementer, but you’ll need the technical depth to challenge decisions, guide trade-offs and earn the confidence of highly capable engineers.

How You’ll Create Impact
  • Lead a high-performing engineering team. Provide clarity, coaching and direction to engineers working across the agent build pipeline, shared foundations, testing and developer experience.
  • Take an emerging platform into its next phase. Help move it from early development into a hardened, scalable capability that multiple engineering teams can rely on.
  • Shape how production AI agents are built. Partner with engineering and product leaders to improve how agents are designed, engineered, validated, deployed and continuously improved.
  • Strengthen the platform and developer experience. Guide the evolution of its infrastructure, integrations, workflows, standards and documentation so technical builders can become effective quickly.
  • Guide consequential technical decisions. Balance immediate delivery needs with the long-term health of the platform and the requirements of complex enterprise environments.
  • Grow technical leadership within the team. Partner with engineering leads, develop emerging leaders and create clear ownership across the team.
The Superpowers You’ll Be Bringing to the Team
  • Proven technical leadership. You have strong engineering foundations and the depth to understand complex systems, evaluate architectural options and guide senior engineers.
  • Effective people management. You’ve led strong engineering teams, developed people and delivered meaningful outcomes through others.
  • Cloud and platform experience. You’ve worked with cloud platforms, internal developer platforms, developer tooling or other products designed for technical users.
  • Practical AI engineering curiosity. You actively use modern AI development tools and understand how agentic systems and AI-assisted engineering practices fit together.
  • Product and architectural judgement. You can balance engineering quality, product direction, delivery urgency and adoption in an ambiguous environment.
  • Credible stakeholder influence. You can translate technical complexity, navigate difficult trade-offs and build confidence with engineers, product leaders, executives and clients.
You May Be Especially Well Suited If

You’re an Engineering Manager or former technical lead who has successfully led a team while remaining technically current. You may have worked on an internal platform, developer tooling or AI-native product, ideally in an environment where you’ve operated across engineering, product and stakeholder boundaries.

You enjoy building for technical users and understand what it takes to turn an emerging platform into a capability teams can adopt at scale. You still care deeply about how the technology works, but you’re most motivated by building an exceptional team and amplifying your impact through others.
