This is an exciting opportunity to be part of Perpetual Corporate Trust and Perpetual Digital as an Engineering Manager.  Reporting to the Head of Engineering, we are looking for a leader with great technology expertise and a people-first approach who can also balance between product development and engineering excellence programs. 

Perpetual Digital is responsible for the design and build of software products, platform services and infrastructure across a variety of cloud technologies supporting the banking and finance industry. Perpetual Digital is Perpetual Corporate Trust’s innovation company, leveraging more than 20 years of experience and a market-leading position in Australian securitisation to deliver solutions to this sector.

About the Role

  • Guide and grow a talented team of software, data, tester engineers in an agile and collaborative environment (6-10 reports)

  • Owning major parts of the system, designing, and delivering quality stable solutions

  • Oversee the entire lean software development lifecycle, from planning and design to implementation and maintenance.

  • Oversee resource allocation to ensure appropriate business and staff development goals are met.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional Agile teams to define project requirements, deliverables, and timelines.

  • You will be responsible for the teams’ system incidents, and make sure that the incident management process is followed.

  • Hands-on: translating solution design to code and write efficient, maintainable, scalable, tested, and well-documented code that is suitable for continuous integration (1/3 of your time)

  • Manage the Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines and automation processes

  • Identify areas for improvement in the Lean software development process and implement strategies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Build and contribute to an Engineering culture that values delivering customer value quickly, and iteratively

  • Facilitate continuous learning and professional development opportunities for team members.

  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the engineering team and external consultants.

About you

We’re looking for someone with:

  • 4+ years of experience leading Engineering team(s)

  • Strong leadership and influencing skills

  • Deep experience with Agile/Lean/Scrum delivery and practices

  • Deep technical knowledge on ASP.NET Core, ASP.NET, C# and Entity Framework Core

  • Experience working on Angular 11, Typescript, SCSS, HTML5 & CSS3

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Azure, specifically ADF, App Service, API Management, Azure Functions, Service Bus, Azure SQL DB, T-SQL and PowerBI

  • Hands-on experience with a variety of database management systems (SQL, NOSQL), data storage patterns, eventual consistency, data analytics, and reporting

  • Demonstrated experience with TDD, unit / integration / performance end-to-end (functional) testing

  • Experience with DevOps and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) operations, tooling, and practices

  • Strong attention to detail with demonstrated strong problem-solving skills

  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • A desire to continually improve the way in which you and your team work

  • Ability to communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences both verbally and in written form

It would be great to bring, but is not required to have:

  • Relevant industry certifications are desirable, especially in Scrum processes and Azure cloud technologies.

  • Understanding of Microservices patterns and Databricks

  • Experience in containerisation technologies such as Docker

  • Knowledge of Banking, Securitisation and Financial Markets would additionally be greatly advantageous.
