The Role: 

As an Engineering Manager in our Payments team, you will lead engineering squads responsible for building and scaling Traild Pay, a rapidly growing product that represents one of Traild's most exciting areas of innovation and investment. 

This role combines people leadership and technical responsibility, with accountability for the growth, performance, and delivery outcomes of your squad. Working closely with Product and Engineering leaders, you will help drive the development of a globally scalable payments platform serving customers across North America, APAC, and EMEA. 

Built primarily in Go and running on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Traild Pay presents a broad range of innovative and technically challenging opportunities. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality solutions while fostering a high-performing, customer-focused engineering culture. 

We operate with a high degree of autonomy and ownership, empowering teams to make decisions, move quickly, and have a direct impact on both the product and the business. 

This role would suit an experienced Engineering Manager or a hands-on technical leader looking to take the next step in their leadership journey, with a passion for building high-performing teams and delivering complex, customer-focused products. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Lead and drive resourcing and scoping within our development team improving both the product, the team's environment, and internal technical processes  

  • Mentor and develop your team to hone their engineering skills and grow as individuals to meet the capabilities required for the team.  

  • Maintain a working environment in which your team can do their best work predictably and sustainably, and with a sense of purpose  

  • Ensure the team has all the information they need and the right feedback loops in place to discover and deliver valuable, usable, and buildable outcomes  

  • Monitor and look to support the operational health of your team and products for resilience  

  • Hire talented engineers who share our values and set them up for success from day one 

 

Who You Are:   

  • Experience partnering with product, design, and business leads to defining team vision and roadmap, driven by a genuine understanding of customer needs. 

  • Seasoned coach & mentor; utilizing software delivery, technical experience, and expertise, offer the right knowledge, at the right time in the right way - understanding why and how people learn  

  • You will possess high EQ and a true growth mindset; understanding that competency is not fixed but is enhanced through dedication and hard work. You will be self-aware, self-regulated, motivated, and empathetic, with great interpersonal skills.  

  • Strong communication skills with a knack for breaking down technical details and decisions for non-technical audiences.  

  • Ship fast and ship safe. 

  • Strong expertise in backend and distributed systems 

  • Strong collaborator with an attitude embracing growth, hands-on execution, adaptability, and the scale-up spirit
