Are you ready to shape the future of infrastructure and automation for mission critical payments platforms and banking systems? The Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) is looking to hire an Enterprise Infrastructure Architect to lead the development of IT infrastructure strategy and oversee the design, governance and implementation of solutions that drive business success.

This role is part of a team that provides IT strategy and architecture services to the Bank. We work directly with IT and Business teams to ensure our technology investments are aligned with the Bank’s strategy and plans.

You’ll bring with you a strategic mindset, strategic supplier relationship management, strong forward thinking and the ability to work in teams while influencing and persuading others.

We are looking for an Enterprise Architect who will:

  • Lead the development of target state infrastructure both on premise and in the cloud, driving strategies and technology plans for the Bank. You’ll work closely with business areas to enable their vision while meeting critical requirements for highly available and resilient systems. You will help set the direction for technologies and architectures that underpin some of the most important systems in the Australian economy.
  • Have a deep understanding of infrastructure technologies and a passion for leveraging a broad enterprise-wide perspective to identify opportunities to consolidate, simplify, improve, and evolve technology and processes.
  • Provide the vision, ability, and people skills to drive change, and the patience to embed it within teams of IT specialists who exercise independence in their work. You’ll play a key role in helping the Bank’s IT teams evolve, modernise, and establish pragmatic roadmaps for implementation.
  • Provide senior technical leadership to the IT department, including expertise in infrastructure technologies for mission critical applications and their deployment.
  • Lead the development of architectures for complex domains/solutions and plan and govern against these, including active participation in Design and Architectural governance forums.
  • Provide architectural direction for key project architecture decisions, technology selection and innovation pathways.
  • Helps to set technology standards, advise on their application, and ensure compliance.

Key skills and experience required for the role:

  • In-depth knowledge and experience with infrastructure technologies including Azure cloud, Cisco networking/compute, Hitachi storage, a range of virtualisation technologies, with increasing emphasis on Cloud-native architectures.
  • Understanding of strategic and new and emerging technologies and their practical application.
  • Experience in resolving solution design and architecture contentions with stakeholders.
  • Excellent Stakeholder Engagement skills and experience in representing the department across the Bank or similar organizations.
  • Strong understanding and experience of automation and DevOps technologies such as Terraform, Azure DevOps, Puppet.
  • Experience working with integration partners/vendors in large programs of work.
  • Qualifications relevant to the Bank or IT industry, including TOGAF, and technical/business domain certifications.
