Location: Melbourne (Hybrid)

We have an exciting opportunity for External Communications Manager to join us based in our Yarra Falls office. You will be responsible to demonstrate a track record of generating trade, specialist and national media coverage, preferably in Australia/New Zealand, and be able to create effective general written communications.

A role you will love

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, responding to enquiries and positioning Computershare as a trusted source. 

  • Protect the company’s reputation by drafting statements, supporting incident and crisis communications, and monitoring media coverage to keep regional stakeholders informed. 

  • Support and develop local media spokespeople through media coaching and preparation. 

  • Partner with Marketing to integrate media angles into campaigns and ensure content is newsworthy and aligned with journalist interests. 

  • Manage and attend media events, launches and other external activities as required. 

  • Contribute to corporate campaigns by supporting Investor Relations communications and developing content for the Annual Report, Sustainability Report and other global initiatives.

  • Proven working experience in a communications environment with experience working in complex or political environments. 

  • Experience promoting products, services or technologies to journalists

  • A background in corporate, professional or financial services, with some exposure to regulatory processes or organizations

  • Experience working as a journalist and/or in a PR agency environment, the latter particularly in promoting products and services or technology. 

  • A University degree is preferred, but not essential, especially if the candidate shows a strong track record working in communications. 

  • Some evidence of defensive communications would be an advantage, although not essential.
