The Marketing Finance Business Partner is responsible for the financial partnership of the Marketing teams, through the preparation, presentation and influence of valuable analytical insights which encourage smarter, more informed decision making. The purpose of the role is to ensure financial stewardship of the Business through engaging in cross functional decisions which will ultimately impact the profitability and cash flow of the organisation.

Job Description

BUSINESS PARTNERSHIP 

  • Acts as a contact and sparring partner for the Marketing Director and other managers across various Marketing functions
  • Works closely with the various stakeholders, have a service mentality but also challenges them, asks questions, gives opinions, suggestions and insights based on accurate & relevant information. 
  • Knows the contract terms of the various vendors within marketing and the status of spending commitments
  • Assess the cost and benefit of marketing activities through their impact on the consumer and challenges where appropriate

PLANNING & FORECASTING 

  • Coordinates the business plan/revised estimate with budget owners
  • Supports and challenges the budget owners during the planning process
  • Prepares year to go best estimates, considering reasonableness of planning assumptions and market conditions
  • Prepares forecast based on the MPU (Monthly Planning Update) process and clearly articulates changes to plan
  • Highlights risks and opportunities within the forecast and appropriately challenges inputs where necessary
  • Ensures accurate forecasting and clarity of drivers, resulting in robust and timely decision making
  • Works in collaboration with budget owners to ensure the delivery to the Full Year plan each month 

MONTH END CLOSING 

  • Is able to present a true position of Year-to-Date (YTD) performance in marketing based on month end results, and can clearly articulate impact versus target
  • Is able to articulate the performance of the Consumer Marketing results through key drivers in activity, projects or media campaigns
  • Is able to present a true position of YTD performance in Trade Marketing

REPORTING & ANALYSIS 

  • Prepares and distributes a detailed monthly report including comments on brand, project (internal order), account and cost centre level using either SAP, BI and /or Hyperion for key stakeholders and directors
  • Monthly presentation on Month and YTD impact of Consumer Marketing results to the marketing team – clearly articulating variances and full year impact which should steer the business in achieving its goals

GENERAL TASKS

  • Ensures timely distribution of financial information (plan & actual) to key stakeholders by presenting at regular monthly meetings 
  • Measures and reviews the cost/benefit ratio of proposed activities
  • Builds a solid relationship with budget owners based on mutual respect, trust and understanding of the business
  • Is driven through a service mentality by sharing insights, supporting budget reallocations, ensuring overall budget adherence 
  • Champions compliance of Group Controlling guidelines and internal policies

Qualifications

Degree Qualified in Accounting, Finance or Business 

+5 years experience in Finance, especially in Business Partnership, ideally within the FMCG sector

Knowledge of SAP & Hyperion is advantageous

Strong business partnering skills - able to influence outcomes and handle challenging commercial situations in a professional manner 

Excellent communication and presentation skills. Capable of communicating precisely and effectively with internal
stakeholders up to Director level
