Job Description

  • 6 months fixed term contract
  • Directly influence the pricing strategy for leading retail brands

We have a 6-month contract role for a Finance Business Partner - Merchandise (Retail). This position will be responsible for providing analytical insights and recommendations for our retail pricing strategy, taking it from development through to execution. Key project deliverables will include strengthening the finance partnering relationship and ways of working with the Heads of Merchandise Operations (Pricing, Range & Space, Transformation) and their immediate teams. This role will also help with setting up reporting and using data-led insights to provide commercial analysis, ultimately supporting the Endeavour and Retail Brand (BWS & Dan Murphy’s) strategies.

Here is a taster of what you can expect in this role

  • Understand the main drivers and levers of pricing across our two unique brands (BWS & Dan Murphy’s)
  • Setup tracking and provide insightful analysis and commercial recommendations on our new retail pricing strategy
  • Own and manage the weekly and monthly performance reporting insights across the merchandise operations team
  • Develop reporting and insights to improve visibility and drive stronger accountability for delivering budget numbers across the wider merch team
  • Enhance supplier P&L reporting, understand new requirements and optimising best practice across the different categories (Beer, Wine, Spirits)
  • Establish clear metrics for evaluating the success of space projects, range reviews and category trials
  • Regular reviews of cost and margin impacts to ensure benefits are being realised
  • Proactively work with key stakeholders to optimise ways of working
  • Develop a robust framework for analysing pricing strategies and their long term implications.
  • Proactively challenge assumptions, drive change and influence decision making
  • Ensure performance drivers are transparent and understood by Finance, Merchandise Operations and the wider Merchandise Trading teams
  • Filtering analysis and findings through the Head Of Finance to ensure buy in at the leadership level
  • Work closely with finance peers across all brands and the group finance teams to achieve best practice and ensure consistent reporting and processes

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8+ years relevant experience with CA/CPA Qualification
  • Advanced experience using financial systems in a commercial environment e.g. Excel, Powerpoint, Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • Advanced analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to navigate through a complex organisational structure and work effectively cross functionally
  • Strong presentation and storyboarding skills
  • Advanced time management and prioritisation skills
  • Able to communicate complex financial information simplistically
  • Ability to prioritise team efforts to support business requirements
  • Desire for ongoing continuous improvement and process excellence
  • Desire to be part of the exciting and energetic Drinks industry!
  • Retail or FMCG experience desirable
