About the role
We’re seeking a Finance Partner to be responsible for the provision of Finance partner services. This position will contribute to the success of Business Function by identifying new opportunities to improve revenue or reduce costs, assessing project financial outcomes and benchmarking operational performance.
You’ll join an innovative team, who take a proactive role in managing business case support, revenue and cost analysis and financial modelling. The position will play a key support role to the General Manager and Group Executive on a variety of financial aspects across the business.

Day-to-day, you will:
Identify key commercial business improvement initiatives and ensure they are developed, shaped and evaluated
Determine priority of initiatives as well as resourcing, support service and funding requirements
Review and challenge the business on key budget assumptions, including adverse operating performance (including intercompany cost allocations), major maintenance (lifecycle model) and capital expenditure and cash flows/distributions outcomes
Support business in obtaining required approvals, resourcing and funding
Assess expenditure (opex, maintenance and capital) and benefit realisation plans and support implementation with project managers and business owners
Undertake scenario modelling and “what if” analysis and provide financial support and modelling input into business cases for major development projects, capital expenditure, business initiatives, systems implementations and major procurement contracts
Provide required level of finance support for projects, including strategic initiatives
Work closely with joint venture teams on information provision, provide insight and analysis as part of ongoing review of business performance
Assist the Business with Capital Expenditure planning, ensuring that any major deviations to the previous Capital plans (per the Asset financial models) are reasonable and adequately explained
Partnering with Reporting, Forecasting and Analytics team, support the Business with ad-hoc finance reporting needs to drive tactical decisions. Existing reporting produced by Transurban Finance and Business Services team should be leveraged in a first place
Track performance against strategic goals, business plans and budgets and work with the Leadership team to develop programs
This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferrable skills and experiences, including:
Tertiary accounting, finance or commerce qualifications plus professional accreditation (e.g. CPA, ICA, CFA, Masters of Applied Finance)
Proven experience working as a Finance Business Partner in a complex Corporate environment, ideally in Infrastructure, Construction or Energy/resourcing
Advanced MS Office skills – Excel
Budgeting and forecasting skills and the ability to identify and analyse key business drivers
Strong numeracy and operational / financial modelling skills
Exposure to a capital and maintenance project environment
Well-developed organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Excellent written, oral communications and interpersonal skills
Ability to liaise and challenge across all levels of the organisation
Well-developed documentation skills, particularly in process maps and business cases to support
