Working at Transurban is different; it’s a place where you can see the benefits of your work play out in real life, every day. We create city‑sized solutions, building and operating safer, smarter, and more sustainable roads to solve pressing transport challenges that are slowing cities down.

About the role

We’re seeking a Finance Partner for a 12-month secondment to provide strategic financial insight and commercial support across our Queensland business, with a strong focus on growth initiatives. This role plays a pivotal part in shaping financial outcomes, supporting strategic priorities, and delivering value across key initiatives.

You’ll work closely with senior leaders, including the General Manager and Group Executive, to identify opportunities that enhance revenue, optimise costs, and strengthen financial performance. From business case development to scenario modelling and strategic analysis, you’ll be a trusted advisor who applies a strong commercial lens to help drive sustainable value across the business.

It’s meaningful, challenging, and high-impact work that contributes directly to the success of our operations and long-term strategy.

Day-to-day, you will:
  • Lead financial modelling and scenario analysis for growth opportunities (LWU and others), driving stakeholder engagement and supporting commercial negotiations

  • Prepare high-quality financial commentary and insights for TQ Board papers to enable informed decision-making

  • Respond to shareholder queries with accurate, timely financial analysis and detailed reviews of performance drivers

  • Deliver clear, concise monthly reporting, including Level 2 commentary, and partner with reporting teams to provide actionable insights

  • Provide comprehensive support for refinancing initiatives, including preparing investor presentations and liaising with internal and external stakeholders

  • Collaborate with internal partners and business units to draft compelling narrative commentary for executive reports and presentations

  • Engage with key external stakeholders including State Government, Councils, and Shareholders to support strategic initiatives and reporting requirements

This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferrable skills, including:
  • Proven ability to work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders, including senior executives and key external partners

  • Strong capability to provide deep financial insights, coupled with a solid understanding of financial valuation principles and a strong commercial lens

  • Exceptional report writing, presentation, and communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex financial information clearly and concisely to diverse audiences

  • Tertiary qualifications in accounting, finance, or commerce, plus professional accreditation (CPA, ICA, CFA, or similar)

  • Advanced Excel skills and strong numeracy

  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities

  • High attention to detail and accuracy

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively to achieve outcomes

If you meet some of these requirements, but not all, we encourage you to submit your application.

With a career at Transurban, you’ll enjoy a range of benefits, including:
  • Flexible working and leave options, including the ability to purchase up to six additional weeks of leave each year.

  • 16 weeks paid parental leave for all parents, with superannuation paid during unpaid leave.

  • Learning and development opportunities to support your career growth.

  • Health and wellbeing support, including access to Headspace, EAP, and wellness facilities.

  • Share offers and insurance benefits.

  • Social activities, community programs, and paid volunteer days.

We embrace diversity with a foundation of safety, wellbeing, and inclusion—where everyone belongs. We treat everyone with fairness, respect, and consideration, regardless of background or identity. We want all candidates to feel comfortable expressing ideas, questions, and concerns.

We strongly encourage applications from candidates of diverse backgrounds and lived experiences, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and people living with disability. If you require adjustments or support during the recruitment process, please contact us at [email protected].
