Purpose of your role

This role will be a key source of financial and operational support to the Technical Accounting Manager in ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory financial reporting requirements, as well as timely and accurate global taxation compliance for indirect taxes including GST/VAT and withholding tax.  This role will provide support for audits from a financial statement and technical accounting perspective, for the Group and subsidiaries, in addition to monthly and ad hoc accounting needs. 

What you do 

  • Support the half-year and full-year reporting of Group results to the ASX, including involvement in the preparation of the consolidated financial report. 
  • Provide necessary assistance to the external auditors (both local and overseas) as required in a timely manner.
  • Assist in the preparation of the audited and unaudited financial reports for a number of subsidiaries, including preparation of Board pages as required. 
  • Prepare indirect tax lodgements and payments, ensuring payments are accurate and paid on time.
  • Assist with regulatory and compliance monitoring including cashflow forecasting and solvency calculations.
  • Play an active role in the month-end financial close cycles including supporting the revenue accounting monthly process and other key allocated tasks and ensuring general ledger accounts are accurate and meet the recognition and measurement requirements of Australian and International accounting standards.
  • Support the monthly balance sheet reconciliations process, including preparation of key balances assigned to you.
  • Completion of intercompany accounting and the monthly settlement process.
  • Assist in the preparation of the quarterly balance sheet review analysis, and actively participate in the meeting with the CFO and other key stakeholders.
  • Support the revenue accounting and associated reporting as required, ensuring compliant and accurate reporting and processes.
  • Support the Technical Accounting Manager and Group Financial Controller, as required, to assist in undertaking research to understand new or amended accounting pronouncements and their relevance to OFX’s operations to make recommendations for application and initial implementation.
  • Involvement in ad hoc Finance initiatives as necessary and agreed.

Qualifications

What you bring

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in financial accounting and/or reporting focused role
  • Good knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards and relevant regulatory requirements
  • Able to monitor and meet multiple deadlines and competing priorities
  • Competent with business writing (accounting papers, Board papers, qualitative annual report disclosures etc)
  • Flexible and creative problem solver
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial reporting tools
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Understanding of and experience in balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Attention to detail
