About the team
Reporting to the Financial Controller based in Sydney, this newly created Financial Accountant role, is a hands-on position and will assist with all day-to-day accounting functions across our global entities. You are detail-oriented, proactive and process-driven, with a positive attitude and a passion for learning. You take ownership of your work, ensure high-quality outputs, and contribute to streamlined, accurate and timely financial reporting for our investors and business leaders.
What you'll be doing:
- Hands on day-to-day accounting functions including but not limited to: Accounts Payable/Expenses, Payroll, Banking, Journal Entries, and assisting with managing external contract accountantsManage payroll processing, superannuation and related reconciliations, liasoning with Rippling and third party processors on payroll related transactions.
- Assist with accurate and timely month end close by preparing various journal entries and account reconciliations for cash, prepaids, accruals, inter-company, fixed assets and various other accounts.
- Coordinate with other departments to obtain transaction information, research reconciling items, and resolve issues.
- Assist with the preparation and lodgement of tax and statutory compliance obligations.
- Assist and in preparation of financial statements notes and collating information for our financial statement auditors.
- Assist in project implementation of new procedures to enhance the workflow of the department.
- Partner with operational teams across the business to resolve financial queries.
- Opportunities to be involved with various equity transactions and capital projects.
Ideally you'll have:
- 3+ years in a position equivalent to a general ledger accountant/bookkeeper or higher responsibilities.
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline - Working towards or completion of CA / CPA qualification.
- Good working knowledge of IFRS, knowledge of GAAP helpful.
- Experience in payroll processes across Australia, UK and/or the USA.
- Experience with Campfire , Ramp, Stripe, (or similar accounting ERP),Google Workspace - Proficiency in Google Sheet/Excel.
- Strong analytical skills and exceptional problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage non-finance stakeholders.
- Ability to manage competing deadlines and confidence and adaptability in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving startup environment.
