JOB SUMMARY

Arch LMI Pty Ltd (“Arch LMI”) is part of group that is an APRA-licensed provider of Lenders Mortgage Insurance (“LMI”).  Arch LMI is an Australian-domiciled subsidiary of Arch Financial Holdings Pty Ltd and its ultimate parent is Arch Capital Group Ltd (“ACGL”), a S&P 500 NASDAQ-listed global provider of insurance and reinsurance across a variety of product classes.

The Financial Accountant will be part of a young but successful team and company. The role will support the Finance function in various activities such as financial reporting processes, BAU, financial planning and budgeting processes, including:

  • Daily, weekly and monthly, quarterly and annual financial processes;
  • Assisting with the account payable and receivable functions;
  • Liaison with suppliers and other key stakeholders on finance matters;
  • General ledger and reconciliation support (including bank reconciliations);
  • Preparation of statutory and regulatory reports;
  • Participating in delivering on short and long term strategies for achieving company growth, profitability and risk quality objectives; and
  • Ad-hoc finance related task.

The Financial Accountant will report directly to the Head of Finance of Arch LMI.

Essential RESPONSIBILITIES and ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Daily, weekly, monthly and annual finance processes (including statutory, regulatory and management reporting).
  • Entering invoices and preparing reconciliations as part of the accounts payable and receivable function.
  • Monitoring and processing financial transactions with Arch LMI’s lending customers and suppliers.
  • Assisting with reconciling bank statements and ensuring discrepancies are resolved. Assisting in the reconciliation of general ledger accounts and proper recording of transactions.
  • Participating in the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Maintaining and operating an effective internal control environment which complies with current best practice and ensures that Arch LMI meets all relevant compliance obligations including those arising from SOX.  
  • Work with other Arch Capital Group companies to ensure compliance with inter-company arrangements, and to provide other ad-hoc assistance as required.
  • Assist in responding to information requests from internal and external auditors as required.
  • Finance ad-hoc tasks as required.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Prior experience and proficiency in Finance function including accounts payable, accounts receivable and journal entry process.
  • Proficiency in Australian GAAP, ideally within a general insurance environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results under tight deadlines and competing objectives.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills in written and verbal formats; ability to address broad range of audiences including senior management, external stakeholders and technical experts.
  • Focus on client and customer service.
  • A willingness/ ability to function as member of a multi-disciplined, international team.
  • Professional maturity and confidence.
  • Bias towards action and self-direction.
  • Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word skills will be valuable.

Education and Experience:

  • Required knowledge and skills would typically be acquired through a finance degree (or equivalent) and -2-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Completion or substantial completion of a professional accounting qualification (CA, CPA, ACA) is desirable.
