The Opportunity
We are establishing our Sri Lanka office and looking for two Financial Accountants to join as founding members of the finance function. Initially responsible for a single, lower-volume entity, you will maintain books to trial balance level and work closely with our UK finance lead. As the team matures, scope and entity coverage are expected to grow. This is a rare opportunity to join a high-calibre trading firm at the start of its Asia operation and build something lasting.
Requirements
- Degree in Accounting and Finance; professional qualification preferred (ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent)
- 5+ years post-qualified experience in financial accounting or a shared services environment
- Hands-on experience with journals, reconciliations, month-end close, and AP/AR processes
- Proven ability to take accounts independently to trial balance
- Multi-currency accounting experience — comfortable operating across multiple FX ledgers
- ERP system proficiency — SageIntacct or similar multi-currency accounting platform preferred
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills — reconciliations, schedules, pivot tables, lookups
- High attention to detail and ability to work to strict close timetables
- Self-motivated and highly organised — able to manage your own workload to deadlines without day-to-day supervision, and raise issues proactively rather than waiting to be asked
- Service-oriented mindset — treats internal stakeholders as customers, responds promptly to queries from remote colleagues, and communicates clearly and helpfully across time zones
- Comfortable acting as the first point of contact for finance queries from distributed business users — able to field questions, provide guidance, and escalate appropriately
- Strong written and spoken English — clear and confident in both written and verbal communication, with the ability to work effectively across synchronous and asynchronous settings
- Experience working with globally distributed teams is strongly welcomed; comfortable collaborating with colleagues in different time zones and cultures
- Experience maintaining structured, auditable working papers and complying with documented finance SOPs
Nice to Have
- Experience in financial services, commodity trading, or regulated environments
- Familiarity with intercompany accounting and group consolidations
- Exposure to internal controls frameworks and audit preparation
- Experience supporting remote finance users or business units — fielding queries asynchronously and providing clear written guidance
- Experience with payment platform processing (subject to onshore approvals)
