About the role:

As Financial Controller you will have broad operational responsibilities across RSM’s Group Finance function. Reporting to the Director of Group Finance, you will be responsible for overseeing the operations of the financial accounting and FP&A teams as well as supporting the Director of Group Finance in developing and implementing strategy for the broader Group Finance division. 

This role will work closely with the Director of Group Finance as well as partners and senior leaders at RSM and is supported by the Financial Accounting Manager and the FP&A Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day finance operations, including treasury, financial planning and analysis, accounts payable, accounts receivable and financial accounting.
  • Oversee the timely delivery of key financial reports, providing technical guidance and support to team members as required.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process, delivering robust financial plans, insights and analysis to the Executive Board within agreed timeframes.
  • Support operational business units in developing financial plans by providing technical expertise, commercial insight and constructive challenge of key assumptions.
  • Partner with business leaders to translate financial insights into actionable initiatives that support informed decision-making and achievement of the firm’s financial and strategic objectives.
  • Ensure the accurate and timely completion of external reporting and regulatory obligations, including taxation and bank covenant reporting.
  • Design, implement and maintain robust internal controls across key financial processes.
  • Serve as the Workday ERP Finance module lead, owning configuration changes to align the system with evolving business and finance requirements, enhance functionality and drive continuous process improvement.
  • Oversee the preparation and delivery of financial forecasts, analysis and commentary to support the Director of Group Finance and the Leadership Group.
  • Lead treasury activities, including cash flow forecasting, cash reserve management, payment approvals and oversight of foreign currency transactions.
  • Coordinate resourcing across Group Finance, proactively identifying capacity requirements and managing absences to support the timely delivery of key activities.
  • Lead, mentor and develop team members through effective coaching, feedback and support, enabling them to realise their potential.
  • Oversee key activities relating to partner profit distributions, including managing partner elections, maintaining beneficiary records, calculating payments and preparing beneficiary reports.
  • Support the Director of Group Finance in administering the Partner Welfare Policy, including the calculation and communication of quarantined leave and additional partner leave entitlements.
  • Manage financial compliance requirements associated with partner appointments and terminations.
  • Support the Director of Group Finance with strategic initiatives, ad hoc activities and projects as required.

Education Requirements:
Essential

  • CA or equivalent
  • Degree Qualified

Demonstrated Experiences and Attributes:
Essential

  • 3+ years in a senior role leading finance teams
  • Outstanding stakeholder management skills
  • High level communication skills both written and verbal
  • Highly organised both in relation to personal and team activities
  • Ability to operate at all levels including at a transactional level where required
  • Strong decision making skills
  • Excellent analytical skills combined with sound business acumen

Desirable

  • Experience of working in professional services firms
  • Experience with Workday / Adaptive Planning
  • Experience with the taxation of trusts and trust accounting
