This role is an Australia-based, fully work-from-home position, with access to co-working spaces in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane

Job Description

The Senior FP&A Manager plays a pivotal role in supporting the GM of Planning & Performance by working hand-in-glove with finance business partners and senior leaders to drive business performance through thought leadership and reporting & analysis.

As a key go-to partner to the business this role is crucial in re-establishing business-wide reporting, tracking of key business drivers, and forecasting including clear-link to the businesses investment priorities and objectives.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reporting Framework: Assist the GM Planning & Performance in furthering the reporting framework across the organisation, ensuring consistency and accuracy in financial and operational reporting processes.

  • Engagement with Finance Business Partners: Regularly engage with Finance Business Partners to understand departmental needs and facilitate transformational changes to enhance business performance.

  • Reporting of Actual Results: Prepare and analyse periodic financial reports comparing actual results to budgets and forecasts, provide insightful commentary on key drivers of variances and identify areas for improvement.

  • Performance Metrics and Budget Accountability: Work closely with Finance Business Partners and departmental heads to refine and report on performance metrics and budgets. Provide support in identifying and mitigating risks that may impact financial outcomes.

  • Support in Planning and Forecasting Processes: Provide assistance in the planning and forecasting processes by contributing to the development of financial models, analysing trends, and assisting in scenario analysis to support decision-making.

  • Business Wide OKRs: Collaborate with cross-functional teams and finance business partners in setting and reporting on business-wide Objectives and Key Results (OKRs), including support in tracking monthly performance against these objectives to drive alignment and accountability.

  • Data Analysis and Interpretation: Utilise financial modelling tools, data analysis techniques, and ERP systems to analyse large datasets, interpret trends, and extract actionable insights to support strategic initiatives and operational improvements.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with various departments including Technology, Finance, People & Talent, Operations, Sales, and Marketing to gather relevant data, facilitate communication, and ensure alignment of financial objectives with overall business goals.

  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and streamlining of financial processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in delivering financial insights and support to the organisation.

Qualifications

In addition to these foundations, you will have:

  • 8-10+ years experience in FP&A or big 4 / mid-market deal teams

  • Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting or Economics

  • Professional certification CFA / CA

  • Experience in financial planning and analysis, including demonstrated proficiency in 3-way modelling

  • Skilled at managing stakeholder communication, ensuring transparency and alignment on goals and outcomes

  • Strong understanding of financial principles, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail, and a commitment to continuous improvement 

  • Demonstrated leadership ability

  • Strategic thinker with a results-oriented mindset, working in a cross-functional environment

  • Comfortable managing ambiguity and solving complex problems independently

  • Collaborative, adaptable, proactive, and highly accountable
