What You’ll Do

In this role, you’ll determine the best way to build a strong pipeline of First Nations talent by partnering with communities, vendors, and drawing on your own expertise. You’ll also work closely with the Talent Acquisition team to ensure a smooth and inclusive recruitment experience for both candidates and hiring teams. Using your cultural knowledge, you’ll create safe, respectful, and inclusive processes that value the unique perspectives of First Nations candidates. Additionally, you’ll help deliver on our RAP by supporting culturally safe recruitment practices, engaging with communities, and fostering an inclusive workplace. 

In the role, you will:  

  • Shape Telstra’s recruitment principles and model to be more inclusive 

  • Develop a sustainable talent pipeline of First Nations talent 

  • Attract and recruit talent  

  • Work with the Talent Acquisition team and build their skills and capability  

  • Provide exceptional care to candidates, hiring managers and stakeholders  

  • Build strong and trusting relationships with your stakeholders  

  • Partner with our First Nations Talent Lead to support the delivery of our First Nations Talent Strategy. 

  • Work closely with teams across Telstra and the First Nations Directorate. 

About You

 

We are specifically seeking applicants who are Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and are accepted by the community in which they live or formerly lived. 

We are looking for someone who brings: 

  • An understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples 

  • A strong understanding of cultural protocols to ensure we are communicating sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples 

  • A solid understanding of First Nations histories, cultures and protocols. 

  • Deep knowledge of Aboriginal ways of knowing, being and doing 

  • End to end recruitment experience across in-house and/ or agency models  

  • Experience in strategic sourcing, particularly with First Nations talent 

  • Business partnering and/ or account management experience  

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence and understand stakeholder needs. 

  • A creative, proactive and solutions focused mindset
