Position Summary

Lightning Box Games is a gaming company situated on Sydney’s King Street Wharf.  We are looking for a Team Lead for Game Art to join our studio. This is a hands-on creative role for a versatile artist who excels in static game art. You will work closely with developers, designers, and lead other artists to create high-quality visuals that define the signature look and feel of our online casino games.

Primary Responsibilities:

As part of our Production team your main responsibilities will include:

  • Create outstanding high quality Slot Game Art with a passion!

  • Lead a team of artists/illustrators providing art direction and guidance.

  • Develop game concept art with consideration to composition, posing and expression.

  • Character design, poses, and expressions (realistic or cartoon styles)

  • Produce stunning digital renders with a great understanding of lighting and colour.

  • Work in different art styles from Cartoon and fun to Semi-Real and serious.

  • Create beautiful game backgrounds with accurate perspective techniques.

  • Collaborate with game designers and animators to create the teams game vision.

  • Contribute to all aspects of game creation eg. game ideas, names and themes.

  • Work in an organised manner adhering to companies file organisation guidelines.

Secondary responsibilities

  • Create game info screens, reel layouts and game lobby icons.

  • Assist with development of various game marketing items and assets.

  • Exploring and incorporating AI-powered art tools to help with production efficiency.

  • Participate in game reviews to ensure quality of final game product.

  • Checking peer and own work for quality and accuracy.

Qualifications

Essential requirements:

  • A complete portfolio that really shows your talent!

  • Unbelievable illustration and digital painting skills.

  • Fantastic Hand Drawn skills (not looking for photo montage work).

  • Creative drive and the desire to improve art quality standards.

  • 5+ years of experience in game art production, with a strong portfolio.

  • High level knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and confident in editing assets.

  • Ability to work to strict deadlines while maintaining a high degree of quality.

  • Able to work independently and in a team environment. and take direction from management.

  • Self-motivation, attention to detail & excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Can take direction and will accept constructive feedback with a positive attitude.

 Highly Regarded:

  • A similar role within the casino gaming industry.

  • Graphic Design experience.

  • Animation experience and understanding of game optimisation.

  • A general interest in game design and gaming.

  • Up to date in graphic techniques, trends and styles in the industry.

  • A good level of technical and software knowledge.

  • Experienced working on Windows operating Systems.
