As a Game Designer/Mathematician at Lightning Box, you will be responsible for developing, analyzing, and optimizing the mathematical models that drive the gameplay and mechanics of online casino games. Your role is crucial in ensuring that the games offered by our iGaming platform are fair, engaging, and financially sustainable. You will work closely with artists, animators, developers, and data analysts to create innovative gaming experiences while maintaining the integrity of the games' mathematics.
Lightning Box is highly regarded in the casino games industry and this role represents an exciting opportunity to get into an extremely sought-after Game Designer role. 

Responsibilities

  • Develop the technical and creative design vision, including all mathematical aspects, game mechanics, game flow and game theme for various iCasino games, including slot machines, table games, and other casino products.

  • Game Balance and Pay out Analysis: Analyze game simulation and playing data to ensure appropriate balance between player enjoyment and profitability. Adjust pay out percentages and game parameters as needed.

  • Probability Analysis: Conduct probability and statistical analyses to assess the likelihood of winning combinations and overall game outcomes.

  • Gameplay Simulation: Create and play demos to evaluate game behaviour and potential player experiences.

  • Game Improvement and Optimisation: Continuously improve existing games by implementing mathematical enhancements, new features, and mechanics to enhance player engagement and retention.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay up-to-date with relevant gaming regulations and ensure that all games comply with the necessary legal requirements and industry standards.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including game designers, developers, artists, animators, QA testers, and data analysts, to ensure seamless integration of mathematical models into the games.

  • Risk Management: Assess potential risks related to game mechanics and provide recommendations for risk mitigation strategies.

  • Documentation: Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation of mathematical models, calculations, and game specifications.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science or relevant field.

What you Bring to the Role:

  • 5+ years of Game Design Experience.

  • Bachelor of Mathematics, Statistics or IT.

  • A self-motivated team player in a highly dynamic environment.

  • Excellent verbal communication skills.

  • Proficiency in software/programming skills.

  • Passion for problem solving and complex mathematics.

  • Exceptional organizational and communications skills.

  • Remain current on industry trends including new game genres, new game design methods and emerging platforms.
