Job Description
Part – Time Role at 3 days per week.
ACEREZ, a partnership of ACCIONA, COBRA and Endeavour Energy, has been appointed network operator by EnergyCo to design, build, finance, operate and maintain the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) transmission network. The ACCIONA COBRA Joint Venture (ACJV), the design and construct (D&C) consortium, will design and build the Central-West Orana REZ transmission project.
The new transmission network infrastructure will deliver at least 4.5 gigawatts of new network capacity from 2028 to connect 7.7 gigawatts of wind and solar projects, which is enough to power more than 2 million homes each year.

Our Central-West Orana project requires an Environmental (Biodiversity & Compliance) GIS (Geographic Information Systems) Operator with a combination of technical GIS expertise, environmental compliance knowledge in the context of State Significant Infrastructure Project, to analyze spatial environmental data effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
GIS Proficiency – Expertise in using GIS software including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and ArcGIS Enterprise. Particularly in Web GIS Content, applications and web-services to manage, analyze, and visualize spatial biodiversity data.
Remote Sensing & Spatial Data Analysis – Ability to process and interpret satellite imagery, LiDAR, and aerial photographs for habitat mapping, species distribution modeling, and environmental monitoring.
Biodiversity & Ecological Knowledge – Understanding of ecological principles, species distribution, conservation biology, and habitat classification to interpret spatial patterns accurately.
Data Management & Geospatial Databases – Skills in handling large datasets, using geodatabases (e.g., PostGIS, Spatial SQL) and managing metadata for biodiversity research and conservation planning.
Cartography & Visualization – Ability to create clear, informative maps and visualizations that communicate biodiversity patterns and conservation priorities effectively.
Programming & Automation – Knowledge of scripting languages like Python, R, or JavaScript to automate GIS workflows, develop spatial models, and enhance data analysis capabilities.
Compliance – knowledge or experience with compliance tracking in the context of NSW State Significant Infrastructure Projects or similar.
Communication - strong communication skills to effectively work with stakeholders
Deadlines – demonstrated experience meeting deadlines and balancing priorities across multiple tasks and stakeholders.
Required Skills and Competencies
Tertiary-level qualifications in Cartography, GIS or related discipline.
Excellent mapping skills and attention to detail.
Proficiency in ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Enterprise
Experience with data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) software (e.g. FME).
