As a Vice President in the Controls & Business Operations team supporting Global Corporate Banking Japan, you will ensure a disciplined end-to-end control environment. You'll identify and escalate issues with urgency, partner with the Business and Second Line of Defense, and perform ongoing risk analysis. Your work will directly impact the firm's ability to meet regulatory expectations and maintain operational excellence. You will collaborate with regional and global partners to implement best practices and drive continuous improvement. This role offers the chance to influence business outcomes and contribute to the firm's reputation for strong governance.
The Japan Controls organization works closely with local, regional, and global teams to ensure a robust control framework. You'll represent the business in control forums, contribute to resiliency planning, and help shape the control culture across the organization. This role provides exposure to senior leadership and the opportunity to deliver training that enhances regulatory awareness among bankers and sales teams.
Job responsibilities• Maintain a proactive risk and control culture using proven evaluation strategies and sound change management protocols• Escalate issues to regional and global partners, collaborating with risk and compliance functions for resolution• Partner with control functions across lines of business to implement best practices and share lessons learned• Conduct risk and control assessments, ensuring issues and action plans are properly addressed• Implement procedures to ensure compliance with key regulations• Review client-impacting issues to determine root causes and required actions• Represent the business in control forums and communicate resiliency plans• Deliver training to bankers and sales teams to promote continuous regulatory awareness• Support the business in running effectively and efficiently by identifying and remediating control gaps• Ensure controls are properly designed and maintained• Work independently and collaboratively to drive projects and initiatives
Required qualifications, capabilities and skills• Minimum 10 years of experience in the Financial Services Industry, specifically in Corporate Banking or Transaction Banking• Bilingual proficiency in Japanese and English• Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint• Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving skills• Excellent project management and organizational abilities• Effective written and verbal communication and presentation skills• Proactive self-starter with the ability to work independently and lead projects
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills• Experience in Audit and Controls• Strong influence management skills
