As a Japan Client Tax Support Analyst within Global Tax Operations, you will be part of the team to maximize client's investments by either facilitating effective tax relief at source on client investment income or retrospectively reclaiming taxes from global tax authorities.
Job responsibilities
- Deliver the Tax Service to support Securities Services Custody business
- Act as the centralized point of contact for all complex and technical tax issues to support our client's tax servicing needs and manage client relationships proactively
- Have a good understanding of the client's business, structure and tax strategy to ensure all entitled tax benefits are received in order to maximise tax efficiency
- Contribute to the tax component of service reviews and other meetings with the client and provide input on any tax-related product or other change requests
- Support and guidance on outstanding/expiring tax documentation, relief at source, retrospective reclaims, capital gains tax, financial transaction tax, tax regulatory reporting
- Ensure close collaboration with the Sub Custodian network and the internal Network Management Group
- Manage client tax documentation, including, as needed, onward distribution to internal teams to ensure the efficient set-up within internal systems
- Review operational tax processes to identify areas for enhancement continually, analyse root-cause of recurring issues through regular review of metrics, and assist in developing programmes for service enhancements arising from these figures
- Identify and escalate tax risks and participate in resolution
- Assist in client tax account reviews and ad-hoc projects across the wider Tax Operations team
- Attend relevant forums to represent client tax related matter
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Working experience in financial sectors, accounting firms or other professional institutions
- Ability to discuss experience of client service and relationship management communicating complex issues with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to demonstrate your in-depth operational tax experience within financial services, specifically global custody or investment banking
- Ability to give examples of your successful internal and external communication and problem-solving experience
- Ability to discuss your process improvement experience, where you clearly articulate ideas, concepts and procedural changes to clients
- Proven experience within an arena where accuracy is critical within strict deadlines
- Ability to to demonstrate high emotional intelligence, with sound networking and influencing skills to help the Client Tax Operations Utility be effective
- Proficiency in verbal and written communication in both Japanese and English
