Government Affairs Fritz Hitchcock Summer Internship Objective:

Government Affairs summer internship focused on public policy and its impact on the auto industry and our dealers.  The internship is in honor of Fritz Hitchcock, esteemed Toyota dealer and tireless industry advocate.

Background:

Frederick “Fritz” Hitchcock was a successful and politically active dealer with three Toyota dealerships located in Southern California.  He was a champion for the automotive industry, international nameplates and public policy that affected Toyota’s competitiveness in the marketplace.  He demonstrated that by ensuring that not only Toyota, but other global automakers were able to compete on a level playing field in Washington, DC.   He also made a tremendous impact on his community through the Hitchcock Educational Trust which provides debt-free college education to students in need.

Job Role:  Government Affairs Fritz Hitchcock Summer Internship

Student must meet current Toyota internship requirements:

  • Must be the child of a Toyota or Lexus Dealer Principal, Responsible Executive or GM of record with at least 10% ownership
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.7 or higher
  • Study disciplines include Public Policy, Economics, Business, Political Science 
  • Must have lawful authorization to work in the United States and not require employment-related sponsorship from Toyota now or in the future
  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited bachelor’s program

Student Application Process

  • Link to apply will be sent to applicants through the Region/Area offices
  • College Programs will monitor the applicants and provide qualified candidates to Government Affairs

Interview Selection and Process

  • Only candidates that fit the above criteria will be selected to interview
  • College Programs recruiter will prescreen applicants for eligibility
  • Government Affairs will designate an interview panel to interview and select final candidate

Location and Term:

  • Government Affairs, Washington, DC Office
  • Traditional Summer internship term (May through August)

Timeline

  • Application link will be sent to Region/Area offices on January 17, 2024
  • Application submission deadline is February 2, 2024
  • Final candidate selection will be completed by February 16, 2024
  • : Toyota has additional co-op and summer internship opportunities available in the areas of Engineering, Information Technology, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Sales/Marketing, MBA and Finance that are managed by the College Programs Team. The annual base salary range for this position is

$51,500.00 - $83,700.00

Paid holidays and paid time off

The company offers:

  • 120 hours of vacation.
  • 24 hours personal holiday.
  • 13 company observed holidays.
  • 80 hours of accrued sick time.
