Department OverviewYou will be part of a passionate researh and development (R&D) team that designs, tests and maintains High Frequency (HF) & Very High Frequency (VHF) communications systems for global defence and government agencies. The Barrett Communications team, a Motorola Solutions company, develops these systems from component and source code level up and have a wealth of knowledge of all aspects of radio frequency (RF), as many of our team have over 15 years in tenure. Initially the successful graduate will be part of a specialist team working on the final stages of development for the next generation tactical communications solution for defence.
We are offering graduate placement on a permanent full time basis at our Bibra Lake, Perth facility.
Job Description
What a typical day will look like:
Your role will be a contributing team member in our Research & Development engineering team in the following ways:-
Active role in the design and development of new products.
Assist with firmware development for existing products and systems using industry standard methods and tools.
Learn and support development, testing and release of production hardware.
Assist with mechanical design wherever necessary to meet required specifications.
Develop your technical depth in writing and review of technical documentation such as user manuals, technical manuals and test/debugging procedures.
Assist with product support, responding to CAR’s (Corrective Action Requests), ticketed issues, and ECN’s (Engineering Change Notes) when needed.

Basic Requirements
Who are we looking for?
Undergraduates in their penultimate year of electrical, electronics or communications engineering degree or those who have completed their degree in the last 18 months. You must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent resident seeking citizenship or an international student currently studying and residing in Australia with unrestricted Australian working rights.
